An Antiguan man is in pursuit of a former Miss Dominica Pageant contestant, whom he claims defrauded him of over $20, 000 by using his credit cards without permission and making phone calls from his telephones.
Audley Phillip told Dominica News Online that the young woman spent over $10,000 on his credit cards, as well as making phone calls to Germany and England costing over $4,800. The incidents occurred between October 3, 2009 and October 16, 2009 while the woman was staying at his residence in Antigua.
“It’s only after a period of time, when I got my credit card statement from the bank, I realized there are several cash advance transactions using my credit cards and they total almost, just a little over, $10,000. In addition to that, I have several cell phones in my house and she used the cell phones to call Germany and England running up phone bills just in excess of over $4800,” he told Dominica News Online in an interview.
Phillip, who has known the young woman for six years now, said the alleged incident prompted him to alert the Antiguan Police and Immigration.
“For the last six years or so she’s been staying with my family on and off. [She’s been] coming to Antigua spending as much as three, four, five, six months…In recent times, October 3rd last year, she came and she stayed with me and she left on the 16th …” he said.
“I think what happened is that when she realized I was closing in on what she was doing, she ran off. She never took any of my calls … I subsequently reported the matter to the Antiguan Police and the Antiguan Police is actually looking for her,” Phillip told DNO.
Phillip said he normally called the young woman as he left work or to inform her he would be home late. The woman would normally be at home with his son and daughter.
“When I called I didn’t get her on the cell phone that I gave her to use. I called the house number and my daughter answered and said that [name provided] packed up her things and left. So I called the number again… and she didn’t answer,” Phillip recalled.
Later that day he said he received a text message from her informing him that her mother was suffering from ovarian cancer, and asked her to leave his house to stay with an aunt residing in Antigua. However, Phillip discovered that this was a lie. He is convinced that his close female friend made her plan to travel to England, adding, “Ninety-six calls to England and Germany between 3rd of October and 16th of October; 90 percent of them was to Germany.”
Phillip had given the young woman two mobile phones – one of which she took with her when she left; but has she not called him up to this day.
Phillip said he had information that the woman was either in England or Germany.
He is also alleging that she obtained cash advances from ATM machines with his credit card.
He believes the acts were done while he was at work. He said he never expected these actions from the young lady.
“I have gone as far as contacted her mother … and her sister to speak to her to find out exactly what was happening … her mother tell me is a whole bunch of lies; her mother tell me everything she has said to me over a six- year period is a bunch of lies including that her mother was married and living in the states… for six years this girl has been living a life of lies … I never thought that she would do something like that, and I am totally in shock as to why she would do something like that,”Phillip stated.
“The most important part is that she’s a thief and a fraudster. I understand that she’s now living in Germany with her husband,” he added.
Phillip said the young lady will not be able to return to Antigua since there is a warrant out for her arrest.
Phillip said he will pursue the matter for as long as it takes because of the young woman’s deceit.

Something is wrong with Philip’s story, unless the credit card system, and ways of getting cash advances are different to all the other places where credit cards are used I do not see how this unnamed Dominican woman could use his card to fraudulently extract his money from an ATM, or even get a cash advance from a bank.
In the first place, to use a credit card to extract money from an ATM, the holder (owner) of the card need to insert certain private, and personal information known only to the owner of the card. There may also be a “Pin” number known only to the card holder which he or she need to reregister when the automated system requires that he/she inserts, in order to continue the transaction.
In the event this unknown Dominica woman used his card to extract money, from an ATM, she would have to know all of his personal information that the system (ATM) would ask for before it could deliver a single penny.
If they are operating like the rest of the world in Antigua, when one is about to use an credit card to get cash advance from a bank, they are required to show some form of identification. Anywhere in the world I travel, and try to use any of my credit cards, be it to secure a hotel room, pay my tabs in bars, resturants, or or shop for cloths, the people am using my card to pay always ask to see my ID.
I think that if anything is true about that story, it might be the part where he alleged she made the overseas phone calls, that’s probably, however, she could not have accumulated that amount of money in calls over a short period of time, unless she spent several hours per day nonstop talking.

3) Include also every instance she used your credit card with and without your permission.
4) Include whether you had made sexual advances on her or whether you two had shared any sexual activities over that six years.
5) Include how you met that young lady.
6) Include whether or not you are married and where your wife is
7) Include where the young lady slept while she was at your home.
9) Include the person’s name to whom the cell phones are registered.
10) Include whether the calls were made on the cell phones you gave her or on other phones belonging to you and include their numbers.

I don’t care what the story is, stealing is wrong. Some of the post on this site are really sad. They echo the new attitudes of some Dominicans unfortunately, anything for a dollar. Irrespective of the relationship, it is wrong to steal things that do not belong to you. In the states, this type of crime is called: “An Electronic Crime.” If you are caught and successfully prosecuted, you’re looking at ten years in jail minimum for committing a federal offense. I hope they jail her behind and throw away the key. Additionally, people should be more careful with their personal identification and PIN Numbers.

For some reason, I have been privy to the insight of the minds of people and why they call it quits, and why they decide to take that plunge into the unknown, for yes, it is uncharted territory that one ventures into when one decides to leave. But the option of leaving is often far better than staying. And yet, some will still stay and wallow in the misery, despair and loss of self, preferring to tell their tales of woe to whoever will listen. Well, this is all about those who decide to take action and leave, not those who decide to stay and suffer, and the data that makes them decide that it’s time to go.

Sometimes the wife likes to keep up with the Joneses and spends far more than they earn, or perhaps he has a deficit problem and loves to gamble, buy liquor, spend on wine, women and song. Or perhaps it’s just a matter of priorities. “How can you want to buy a plasma TV and we don’t own a washing machine?” she cries, and so the quarrelling begins until it’s splitsville. It matters not what led her to do it – his neglect, abuse, blows to her self-esteem – all he sees is that she gave away the goodies, his goodies, so it’s time to split.
The data is irrefutable, unquestionable, unchallenged, conclusive, that one chief reason for break-ups is infidelity. Most men just can’t handle it, to know that their woman lay with another man. Just check out those stories of murder/suicides and you’ll see that in most cases the man was a simple, quiet, humble man who just lost it because his woman took him for a fool. I spoke to various men about this, and there was one common factor, they felt hurt by being taken for a fool. “She thought that I was an idiot, and is that really hurt me. How could she really expect me to believe that management meetings would be held every Friday and Saturday until 3:00 am? Better she tell me a decent lie, like her sister sick or something, but don’t take big man for idiot,” this guy told me.
The need for power is also a factor, and in these modern times, with so many women having big jobs and earning far more than their partners, it often leads to a shift in the balance of power. It may be subtle, surreptitious, slipping and sliding over a period of years, or it may land like a ton of bricks. It often happens when the wife lands a great new high-paying job, then suddenly she’s aware that her net worth is great, she has money in the bank, has a platinum credit card, can buy stuff and doesn’t really need her man for anything financial. She’s now worth more than him and will let him know it. One day he wakes up and he’s wearing the skirt and she’s wearing the pants. Or it may happen suddenly if he loses his job and now has to depend on her income to support them both. Dog nyam him supper, for it will be forever dashed in his face. She calls the shots, she makes the plans, she pays the bills. It also happens if he doesn’t own a place and moves into hers, marries into her family and gets to live in her daddy’s ‘dead leff’ house. He is relegated to Mr Also Ran, and run he may, if he can afford to leave, that is. Sad tales of woe, told to me by sad men.
Then there’s the need for space which some couples never seem to understand. One party always seems to think that being intertwined like vines or snakes is healthy, and living like conjoined twins is the way to be. All that does is smother the relationship, but if one dares to mention that they want space, it’s instant grounds for break-up. And don’t believe that it’s only women either, for many men want their women to account for each hour of the day. “It’s work, then home to me, nowhere else, no gym, no karate class, no Bible Study, no girls’ night out, just me, yu hear?!”
The data is there, people break up for different reasons, while some remain and endure the misery. But all is not lost as some couples are happy together, they respect each other, respect each other’s money, don’t take each other for granted, respect each other’s sexual needs, have no power struggle and communicate. They may be few and far between and may also fall in the older category, but they do exist and leave the door open for the rest. So I’m told.

I think that too many persons are missing the real issue here. This is not a sex thing. This is a credibility issue and however she got the use of his card, to use it without authorization is stealing. Why are we justifying wrongs by all kinds of foolish arguments. As a result of her theft, she has now damaged her reputation and for a girl of her stature (former Carnival Queen contestant) that is bad. For me, call me anything else but not a thief. We need to stop justifying such actions and call a spade a spade.
