Bellot commends Dominica/China relationship

Bellot

Local businessman Parry Bellot is commending the government of Dominica and China on their eigth anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Bellot says the construction of the Windsor Park Stadium is one of the most valuable gifts deriving from that relationship.

He also congratulated China for their contribution towards education and infrastructure.

“China has given us valuable gifts. The stadium cost a lot of money. The previous government tried to do this and failed. When the DLP came in, it couldn’t handle it on their own. It was trying to carry on from the previous government and found that there was no money for it,” he said.

The Chinese, he said is also assisting Dominica with very low interest loans for major projects like the state college and the awarding of scholarships.

“The state house complex is another major project. It is not just a presidential mansion. Dominica has been deprived a proper residence for our President,” he said.

Bellot says Dominicans should use Chinese businesses as a stepping stone to properly manage their own affairs.

Hey, Dominica, go ahead and sell your soul to the devil in the name of development. A country that has a high rate of human rights abuses and continues to develop at any means necessary including the destruction of its environment does not have your best interest in mind. This relationship is about China’s interest, not Dominica’s. It is happening everywhere in the developing world especially in Africa, where China is raping these countries of their resources and once it has gained what it wants, it will pull out. This relationship is imbalanced. Chinese are no smarter than Dominicans. If you are really interested in helping Dominica, why not assist in training and providing education to the local people and then allow them to do the work in order to bring down the high unemployment rate and poverty that plague this island nation. China’s sole interest is that of it’s development and political objective. The question we should ask ourselves is why is China so interested in being Dominica’s friend. Remember Rosie Douglas my friends and why he held back on China’s friendship. China is not Dominica’s friend, never forget that!

China is great for us. The infrastructure is No 1 for a developing country.

it is good to know that China give us loans at low interest rate but why should we borrow from them and then hand them the projects when our people are unemployed and youth are getting in all sorts of trouble because of unemployment? If Chinese have work to do in China will they allow D/cans to come there and do it? Tell Us Parry.

You are a smart person and good buisnessman.Would like to know if, in your buisness, you could organise aniting to produce and sale”tamarin juce” if you are not sure that producers will be allways ready to sale to you seeds in affordable price, all the year, and never go to your concurrents ? The “Real Economy” ask to be allways in position to show your preferences out of politics agrements.
With China, be partner is excellent, bue beware to keep the hand in the situation.

right from the horses mouth, dominicans should use chinese businesses as stepping stone to manage there own affairs, bellot has been a head corner stone in dominican business,so all the comments that were aimed at the chinese right here on DNO, were just junk mail and viruses,it had to take a businessman to make the intuitive point, stop coveting your neighbors business, and build your own, WOW,wooosh i had to blow on that one boy.

Parry now is the time to see if we can get them to finance an modern International Airport in the country, this is something the nation needs.

      March 28, 2012

      I am agreed with you.

Did you see the story in LIAT magazine about how St Vincent did it? We should do the same.

Piece by piece they did it.

The asked for help from Cuba (engineers) for the earthworks, then Venezuela for the equipment and then Taiwan for the buildings. We have no Taiwan so China will do.

      To you Mr Skerrit
