Don Christopher passes on

Don Christopher

Dominica News Online has received information that attorney Don Christopher has died.

Christopher was a patient at the princess Margaret hospital where he had undergone surgery last week.

According to reports, after the surgery he was admitted to the ICU over the weekend because of complications.

Christoper is well known on the Dominican legal scene and was recently Tiyani Behanzin’s attorney in a civil matter brought by Behanzin against the government for their refusal to call him to the bar after being promised he would be.

Christopher has also served as an attorney for the United Workers Party, and was also a member of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

More information on this matter later.

Don Christopher served with distinction in Dominica, Jamaica and England. A graduate of London University his Book BRITAIN’S IMMIGRATION DILEMMA is good reading. Anne Marie and Kay along with his other siblings and wife will surely miss him. Like everyone of us he had his own brand of personality but he was a passionate man who engrossed himself with sincerity in anything he undertook to accomplish. May his soul rest in peace.

Condolences to Mr. Christopher’s family. He was very active on both the legal and political scenes. Sometimes was interesting to hear him express his views. We need to put our energies into upgrading/modernizing our hospital/healthcare system as well as getting adequate, comprehensive training for SOME of our nurses and doctors.

Is it me that is wrong? Isn’t surgery supposed to be life saving? Why is it I hear and note that many people are dying after the come out of surgery in Dominica? Are we killing people? Who is investigating these deaths of post op patients? Eh beh, all that money and the people not skilled to save lives or prevent the complications? I am not stupid,I know complications can arise, but sooo many time i hear that the person is deaddd… after surgery. When Dr. Paul was the only one, not plenty people that die so. No way. RIP Mr. Christopher, we were adversaries in the courtroom but always got along well. You were always polite and graceful no matter what the outcome of your cases. I know that you tried your best for your clients, always fighting for the underdog. Loved seeing you and your wife out together, I know you both loved your ‘little action’. Rest well and may the good Lord comfort your wife and your other loved ones.

If you were any knowledgeable at all on this matter, you would know that its the most critical patients who mostly need to be on life support who are admitted to ICU.And for further clarification.Mr. Don Christopher died on Alford Ward and not ICU.Get allu facts straight before running allu mouth.Stuuuupes.Unless one of allu not yet reach there and come out better than you came, allu will not have reason to sound grateful at all, rather than just making blatantly ignorant statements.

  18. April 24, 2012

We need the minister of health to have an enquiry why are their so many unexplained death in the ICU of the PM hospital.

HE WENT ON HIS TWO FEET TO THE HOSPITAL …

DIED DUE TO COMPLICATION OF SURGERY….WHEN WILL THE HEALTH SYSTEM IN DOMINICA ADMIT THAT THEY ARE INCOMPETENT .IF IT IS DUE TO COMPLICATION OF SURGERY WELL THEY KNEW VERY WELL ; THAT TYPE OF SURGERY WAS TOO DIFFICULT TO BE DONE BY PEOPLE WHO HAVE SENT MANY OTHERS HOME DEAD AFTER THEY CAME ON THEIR TWO FEET…DUE TO THEIR INCOMPETENCE …GET A GRIP ,GET DOWN FROM YOUR HIGH HORSES PEOPLE ARE NOT DOLLS …SAY I CANNOT DO IT BECAUSE I AM NOT COMPETENT ENOUGH….ANOTHER MAJOR PROBLEM THAT D/CA IS FACING RIGHT NOW …IMMIGRANTS ARE COMING IN WITH MEDICAL CERTIFICATES THAT MIGHT NOT BE GENUINE AND GET A JOB AS A DOCTOR OR A NURSE …NO RESEARCH IS BEING DONE AS FAR AS TO FIND OUT THE AUTHENTICITY OF THESE MEDICAL CERTIFICATES

may his soul rest in peace , i did not personally know him but i heard he was very fair man who speak his mind . my other point is what is going on with our health care ? you know the amount of persons who’ve been to that hospital for basic surgery and never make it back to their love ones , i mean this is not making very comfortable at all as a Dominicani. the hospital is always missing one thing or another, but our government found that is was absolutely necessary to build a state house so ministers can socialize and extra roads.

Dominicans better start putting their money aside to pay their air ambulance if they fall ill at some point in their life.
