UPDATE: Police activate Disaster Preparedness Plan as Isaac nears

Police officers in Dominica after Hurricane Maria last year

The police in Dominica has activated its Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan as Tropical Storm Isaac approaches the island.

All police officers have been asked to return for duty until further instructions.

Superintendent Richmond Valentine said on the issuance of a warning, a decision will be taken to issue a State of Emergency.

“Whenever a State of Emergency is issued, a curfew may follow,” he said on Tuesday morning. “A curfew is for the safety and security of everyone.”

He said all arrangements are in place to enforce and police a curfew whenever it becomes necessary.

“I would like to warn the general public that the curfew hours, whenever that becomes necessary, must be strictly adhered to,” he stated. “As a matter of fact, police officers who are on duty will be directed to enforce the curfew hours with zero tolerance.”

He said the police force has a traffic management plan in place for Roseau and Portsmouth.

“And as a consequence, only persons with valid curfew passes will be allowed access,” Valentine explained. “And that curfew pass it to allow to leave your home to go work and from work to your home. The curfew pass is not a pass that will allow you to visit bars, I will say again the curfew pass is from home to work and from work to home.”

He encouraged Dominicans to remain vigilant and remain indoors whenever the curfew is in force.

Valentine said the police force will work with various agencies to ensure safety is maintained around Dominica.

“The police in Dominica has activated its Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan as Tropical Storm Isaac approaches the island. ”

So, what I want to know is if that three wheal Chines Moped the military man is sitting on and another sporting his mask is all it takes to be prepared for a hurricane.

Don’t they know such toys, are nothing more than a feather toy for flooding streets of Roseau, and other low laying areas?

If Dominicans are serous about hurricane preparedness, since we know that Dominica is prone to hurricanes, how about building some underground bunkers in different places to shelter people from the ravages of the wind and rain?

Gus sorry; my mistake, I forgot “but we doh have de money eh.”

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Now is not the time to preach this kind of foolishness. For one time can you put petty politics aside and speak like you are coherant so people can take what you are saying seriously.
“Police officers in Dominica after Hurricane Maria last year” This is what the picture depicts.
This reminds me of the day before Mr. Rosie Douglas died, negative remarks were made on the radio station about him on the eve of an impending storm which was supposed to hit Dominica, but as soon as people heard he passed away, the leopards suddenly changed their spots.
There is a time and place for everything, and now is not the time. Every five years people get the opportunity to show politicians how they truly feel. If you feel you can do better, form you own party and start doing positive things for the country instead of criticizing and making people see how one sided you are, no matter what topic is being discussed.
You live in a country with so much crime, why don’t you write about it?

Shaking my head. Don’t you have anything better to do than to go around promoting negativity and garbage? As if every article that’s posted you comment and its all centered around Politics. The Gov don’t even know if you’re alive and yet still you devote your time and energy to talking rubbish. What are you gaining from this?

Before an impending storm, during and immediately after that said storm, we have to follow the instructions and guidelines of the security forces. Failure to do this may get you in trouble or put your life in serious jeopardy. There is a time and place for everything. A time to protest and a time to obey, a time of war and a time of peace. Let cool heads and commonsense prevail as we ride out the storm together. Hope to see everybody in full health on the other side of the storm.

People….. what’s wrong with getting ready for a storm and putting prudent measures in place? That’s what needs to be done and is being done. Stop this political bull…. and put our citizens safety first. In such times as these all political crap has to stop and nation first.

Is when the wicked Skerrit and his evil police are not expecting a storm, and are not ready for storm, storms will come from nowhere and catch them with their pants down. Evil men and supporters of evil you all are. As for that evil officer that always calling radio to defend evil

This is not the time for that. Focus your energies in ensuring your family and neighbors are taking precautions, that they are in a proper building to face the storm and they have all the essentials for a few days after. Now is time for positive and productive energy.
