Promotion and Media Coordinator of Woodfordhill Reunion 2015, Alvin Alexander, told Dominica News Online on Monday that activities have been “successful” thus far.

“We can say that we had a lot of returnees in the community since the initial kick off of the reunion,” he said. “Persons are still coming in to the community. As of last night we had a count of 200 returnees in the community thus far for the reunion celebrations.”

According to him, the reunion kicked off with the official opening on July 10th with some ministers of government present.

“The opening ceremony was of high note,” he stated. “We had a very exciting time, we had a very excited evening on Saturday when the pageant was held.”

He noted further that an ecumenical service was held the following day on Sunday with participation from all the churches in the Woodfordhill community at the Reunion Village.

Additionally, he said, the celebration concluded on Sunday evening with a Bonfire event in Woodfordhill.

“The returnees as well as the local residents were able to mingle and get acquainted with each other with a street party and bonfire. It was a very exciting evening,” Alexander noted.

He revealed that celebrations continue today (Monday) with a history and culture night with cultural performances and a lecture on Woodfordhill.

“So far the events have been rolling off well and it’s an exciting time here I must say,” Alexander noted.

Woodfordhill Reunion is being celebrated under the theme: “Promoting love and unity for a better community”.

It runs from July 10 to 19.
