Digicel is keeping to its commitment to national development, with the distribution of water tanks to primary schools in need. The initiative has been launched following the devastation caused by the passage of Tropical Storm Erika on August 27.

The 1, 000 gallon tanks will assist schools in having a storage of water that is safe for consumption, especially in the event of water outages. The first donation was made on Thursday morning to the Pioneer Preparatory School which was temporarily relocated to Long Lane in Roseau, following damage to its structure by the Tropical Storm in August.

Digicel’s Marketing Manager Nathalie Walsh said: “We are very happy to make this donation to the Pioneer Preparatory School. This will greatly assist in the availability of water that is safe for drinking, hand washing and other hygienic purposes.”

Principal of the Pioneer Prep, Esther Robinson said: “Every bit counts, so I’m really elated this morning and I wish to say thank you to Digicel. Thank you so much.”

The water tanks valued at over ECD$11, 000, will be installed at Pioneer’s Checkhall location.

The tanks were sourced by J. Astaphan & Company Ltd.

Come on People let us be real. I could swear that I READ that they said that they will be donating water tank(s) “Plural” meaning that Pioneer is ONE of the Other schools to receive a water tank. I am sure they will say who are the other schools to receive.

I also think that we should not be bias because it is a private school. Pioneer school has been severely damaged after the storm and the kids cannot go back to their original school up to now. We need to stop being so opposing and negative to even go so low to state that the Managers kid go there. Give a break and im sure the man child does not even go there.

lets be positive ppl. Get the Positive message out of this – that they are touching a life after the storm not matter if your child goes to Pioneer, Orion, Convent, Soufriere or even Wesley.

READ Carefully people Read the article properly. If we take our time to read carefully we will get the clear message and not what you want to see. Most of allu statements are…

I am very happy that Digicel stepped up and donated to a school in need. However, not that i have anything against the school, i just find it could have been donated to a school more in need like coulibishrie or petite savanne

    • lets pray for one another.

Sigh I do not think that you have understood the news clipping. Please when you are reading, read for understanding in the future. Pioneer is just one of the many schools that will be having a water tank available to them by Digicel. BIG UP TO DGICEL.

What a joke that is – they’re donating to the only school on the island that can afford
to buy it’s own water because the only kids that can afford to go there are those with
high income parents. Oh silly me, the kids of the Digicel boss man go there so that’s why…….give
help where help is really really needed, not on your own doorstep with a load of publicity.
ps Not one smile from the kids either what does that tell you!

Thanks Digicel. But is this a typo, or deliberate attempt to inflate the donation??? How many tanks, and how much is it really valued at? How can a 1,000 gallon tank be valued at $11,000? I am sure that Pioneer Prep would be happier with the $11,000 instead of 1000 gallons of water.
