CARICOM SG statement on London attacks

Caricom Secretary-General Irwin LaRocque

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) condemns unequivocally the murderous attacks on innocent people in London last Saturday night.

These callous and cowardly acts can further no cause and only serve to stiffen resolve in the fight against the purveyors of terror.

The Community stands in solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom whose resilience in the face of adversity is well-chronicled.

CARICOM extends its deep sympathy to the families of the deceased and to the Government and people of the United Kingdom and wishes the injured a full and speedy recovery.

Lol, the pm announced he was going to visit Russia before he went there. Read the news a little. Inform yourself a bit before making statements .

A house slave only speaks when his masters house is on fire, i wonder what would have been Mr LaRocque’ statement had he been arround when Englands German cousins was bombing london bridge to hell? the uncle toms of today continue to have no sense of history, and people of his kind is not helping us to move forward, Antigua, won a landmark case against the USA on internet gambling, the USA have blatantly refuse to pay the fine, why? because no one can force the USA to pay, where is your statement on that Mr LaRocque? England bomb Lybia into nothingness, no statement, Yemen, Iraq, LaRocque you should be ashamed of yourself coming out of a once very progressive island.Where is MIKE DOUGLAS?.Bob.

We need your statement on Roosevelt’s visit to Russia! Was he or was he not representing all the CARICOM nations?

  4. “These callous and cowardly acts can further no cause and only serve to stiffen resolve in the fight against the purveyors of terror”(Irvin LaRocque).

Irvin, you would be much better off if only you kept your mouth shut; such nonsensical nonsense is all nonsense. Who in England do you believe is hearing you, or listening to your stupid useless rhetoric.

You are running off your mouth: What can you or Carricome; or anybody in Dominica do about international terrorism? Rather than talking fart, if you are capable, or have the ability to stop terror, perhaps you can do something about the high crime plaguing Dominica.

In recent months people are found dead: two per week, in a 289.9 -305 square miles island of less than sixty thousand people. That Irvin is terror, that is terrorism, the cuddling of Russia by Roosevelt Skerrit is indeed the beginning of more terror to come to Dominica!

You know nothing about politics. British embassies in the region are hearing loud and clear the support that CARICOM has for England. Do a little research will you? Take a course in politics or something if you want to make those comments. If caricom did not make a statement on the issue the embassies would report it to their home land.

Mr. La Rocque, you are not heard, you are insignificant and you all so- called leaders are just empty suits who can never and have never been able to offer some material aid to any of your allies in need.

Not heard??? You should add another “s” at the ending of your first name. British embassies across the region heard loud and clear. Had caricom not make that statement what do you think the embassies would report back to their homeland?

We need an immediate statement as regards to Skeritt’s visit to Russia. Did Caricom authorized him to make any statement on its behalf, and if not, are we going to see a statement denouncing the statement and requesting an apology for his forwardness.

I why must you have to make a statement at every incident? what about our local and regional issues? whats about the attacks in Iran recently? they dont get sympathy?

secretary generals are most likely not allowed to get involved in internal politics in different countries. They are to remain neutral.

A bit late Irwin but welcome statement. I would also like to hear from you also about the visit by Roosevelt Skerrti to Russia where he claimed to represent Caricom. I can not imagine that he could claim to speak on behalf of Jamaica for instance that has a Russian embassy in its own country that also represents Dominica. It just doesn’t make sense. Did he pull the same trick he pulled with Pierre Charles when he went unannounced to Barbados to make deal with the Chinese behind his Prime Ministers’ back? The man has no respect for his fellow Caricom leaders and I’m looking to fireworks at next month meeting if Roosevelt has the balls to turn up.. Perhaps he will find an excuse and say he is too ill to attend or has a pressing prior engagement?

Do you really know anything at all about what you have commented on? In case you did not realise it, Roosevelt Skerrti, as you as you refer to him, is one of, if not the, most politically senior and experienced Prime Ministers in CARICOM.

The caricom website just took a while to publish it. There was a meeting a few days ago where the statement was made.

Yeah, yeah, Just like we are not informed of our Prime Minister going to Russia until after he arrived. We have to learn that from the foreign press first. Pathetic excuse.
