CARIMAN recognizes three single mothers

A grouping of men here intent on tackling violence and other ills of society is doing its bit for Mother’s Day, ahead of Sunday’s observance of the day.

CARIMAN has announced that it will be recognizing three single mothers at a function on Friday.

The organization says it is doing this in collaboration with the Dominica National Council of Women.

“This is a meaningful gesture to show appreciation to the mothers out there who are working hard to maintain family values despite difficult and challenging times,” CARIMAN President Thomas Holmes says.

According to Holmes the aim is to further strengthen the link with women and Women’s Organizations “whom we pledged to work with for the development of good families”.

“Women are considered the first link to our boys and men whom we are trying to help develop positive attitude to life,” Holmes said in a statement.

“We are modeling to the boys, young men and men out there. This is just a small way of demonstrating how we need to treat and appreciate our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces and female cousins,” he said.

Its always great to recognise mothers

Cariman needs to focus on its main objective. There are enough organisations looking after women. for that matter Mothers day overshadows fathers day by about 100:1. Men and boys are the one marginalised and in need of support and encouragement.

What about single mother/fathers like Jammaz and Mobile Man. It it time Cariman highlight these men so that other men can get some inspiration.

One of the reasons while women outperform men, is because men are quicker to assist women than their fellow men resulting in a vicious cycle.
