A challenge to fathers

Saint Jean has challenged fathers to spend quality time with their children

Minister for Education Petter Saint Jean has thrown a challenge to fathers in Dominica to spend at least 24 hours of quality time every week in November with their children.

Saint Jean made the remarks at an Early Childhood Development National Symposium on Monday.

According to him, the mothers are often the only ones taking the full responsibility of raising children.

“I want at this this time to make a special appeal to the fathers of Dominica,” he said. “I believe too often the responsibility of nurturing the future of our country, the very little ones, is left solely and purely the responsibility of the mother. Men, we need to take up the mantle of leadership.”

He said fathers should make time to spend with their children.

“Make sometime during this pre-school month of November to spend at least 24 hours of quality time each week with your son or your daughter,” Saint Jean said. “Engage these children in some positive interactions which will impact on their future, which will impact on their life.”

He said that by doing this, “we will be setting the tone and the pace for a productive Dominica.”

Ouch! That realy hurts. Why are you challenging fathers? Are you saying to the fathers Spending Quality Time and Nurturing And Training The Children is a burden?
Training Of The Children Are Clear Instructions Giving To Us From Our FATHER IN HEAVEN. HE TOLD Us how To Train Up The Children, Purpose explained and Blessing When We Obey And Do Them. HE TOLD Us The Responsibility Or Role Of The Parents , Clearly Marked Out For Mother And Father.
This Is Where We Remind The People OF YAHWEH Instruction And LAW And Tell The People To Do Them. And We Must Be Seen Doing Them Also. Where is the Mention OF The Name OF YAHWEH In your mouth and The Spirit OF YAHWEH your spoke Of . Especially that you function like a Pastor, A Teacher After YAHWEH’S Own Heart?
When The People are oppressed, suppressed, belittled, caused to fear, deprived of their inheritance and made poor, they became sick. Therefore a deseased People , how can they walk IN THE WAY And Do What Is Required Of The People?
Where Is The Safe Environment To Help The Parents Spends Spend Quality Time With The Children? If the fathers cannot do this at home due unsuitable conditions or unfavorable set among family members at the house? Especially adult children leaving with parents. This has been the environment where We Have Seen the demise Of The Family . Just Look and Consider The statistics which was told to Us Of the highest ‘divorce’ rates, especially the highest number among those of religious institutions in the past fourteen(14) years.
Mr Minister What was your role ? Did you speak up when this was needed were you proactive or did you contribute to the problem and if so how? Now the rock bottom is hit and as if seeing a situation between a rock and a hard place, what are you telling the people? Are you suggesting they put themselves in that position or situations and must did their way out?
Do you now See And Hear Why We Said Ouch and Tell of the Pain?
    This hurt.
Fathers and Parents Please Call On YAHWEH FOR Help, Strength, Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding And All You Need To Train Up The Children IN THE WAY They Should Go And Grow. YAHWEH IS READY AND WAITING TO Help , For YAHWEH IS Our PROVIDER. You are not alone. You Have not because You do not ASK OF YAHWEH. “ASK”
Remember Ask And You Shall Receive, Seek and You Shall Find, Knock And It Shall Be Opened unto You.
Fathers, Parents, Families Come On As A Holy Nation We Can Do This.We Can Do All YAHWEH Wants Us To Do BY MY SPIRIT SAYS YAHWEH.
Mr Minister Please Tell and Remund Us that JESUS Told Us HIS Yoke Is Easy And HIS Burden Is Light.WITH YAHWEH ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
Yes We Can And Yes We Will Answer To The CALL. Will You Join and Help Us Mr Petter Saint Jean?

Are you St. Jean or Saint Jean? I always thought it is St. Jean.
Well, Minister St. Jean, let us face the facts. Some children were born into the world for whatever reason and under certain circumstances. This accounts why there are absentee dads and dead beat ones who never honored their responsibility to their children and therefore did not take their responsibility seriously, leaving it to the mothers.
Some of the fathers could be too young and are immature to assume their fair share of responsibility toward their children.
It is not enough to inform the fathers of their responsibility. I wonder how many of them are listening.
You can do something about it by educating them especially the youths while in school. They will be the future adults who, one day will be fathers and mothers. They must be disciplined, taught responsibility and overall respect. I need not spell it out. You should know.
How much of this nurturing do they receive from their parents? Fathers should be taught about parenting and spending time with their children. It is obvious they know nothing about it. The government should ensure that they receive relevant information in the schools they attend.
I noted that young children are taught about finance. Well then, even though when they are in high school, they could also be taught about parenting. Only inform them of what their small and immature brains can accommodate.

Spend time..is that all??? Men in the Caribbean need to learn what it is to be a man, a role model, and a leader. And display that everyday of their life. Then the children will follow. You cant play Daddy today and sexing outside woman and young girl tomorrow.

Also the women must stop condemning poor male role models in front of their young children. Instead of creating a difference they are castrating their potential to be a different kind of man.

Then we have a chance of creating something that resembles made role models and leaders and by extension a productive Dominican.

So far the adults are failing badly.

It makes me really sad to hear that this is happening in Dominica. I love the advice that you gave to your daughter about the value of hard work.
