I pray for the recovery of Mr Maynard. I also pray he recognises the need to change pace (note i did not say retire). It is not a matter of how many years old he is, but his physical abilities.

I hope his family can be influential in having him spend as much quality time as he can with them. Hopefully the need for a salary to meet needs does not outweigh his ability to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

MR MAYNARD, YOU ARE ONE OF THE VERY FEW DOMINICANS THAT THE LORD WILL ALWAYS PROTECT,AND I WISH YOU A SPEEDY RECOVERY. FOR THOSE WHO WISH BAD OF YOU, THEY ALL WILL ALWAYS REMAIN THE VERY WORSE ANIMALS THAT THE JUNGLE POSSESSES. FOR THE ONLY THING THAT THEY EXISTS ON IS HATRED TO OTHERS WHICH INTERNS COMES BACK TO THEM AND THEIR FAMILY.GOD BLESS YOU.

Most of you are so negative with your comments. A man can retire and still want to get involved in things that interests him. Afterall he is not dead, and until this happens, he has the right to partipate in whatever event he so desires. I hope many of you with the negative comments will always be healty and young. Patriot, I understand your disgust at the negative statements about this situation. It is appauling the things that people are capable of saying and thinking. I share the sentiments of some of the comments, but I would dear not utter them. However, when heroes do not bow down when they should, and continue to force their might and corrupt behaivors on others, you should expect these kinds of utterances. If Mr. Maynard had stepped down at the right time, he would be regarded as a great hero. It is just pointless for him to be at the helm of this Government holding an office that he is not physically capable of handling – I am not just saying this, I know it. It came from one of his dear colleagues. I do wish Mr. Maynard a speedy recovery and hope that he retires and spend the later years of his life stress-free. They all think that they have to be there until the end to defend Skerrit’s misdeeds. Sorry – but that’s how I feel.

I concur. Mr. Maynard is a solid son of the soil. His contribution to Dominica and the caribbean indeed surpasses that of most of those who spew hatred and malice. We can tolerate other views as all views must contend. Even if we do not agree with them, let those views be substantial and edifying. The gutter stuff can stay out of the blog. Why should anyone celebrate the illness of any other person? Where is our christianity? Thankfully Mr. maynard willnot see the remarks

Whatever his ailment, Dominica is a hot country. The heat could have caused it. You know, heat exhaustion could have caused it.
We are told to drink approximately 8 glasses, small or medium ones, of water daily or whatever appropriate fruit juice as orange and drinks. He could have been exhausted. Our bodies need moisture replenishment.
Mr. Maynard as I respectfully refer to you as you deserve, a perfect gentleman, take heart, do not unduly distress yourself over this. You have strong faith. Our Lord will surely take care of you. I hope you recover from this. You probably need some rest. I know that you will receive the appropriate medical care and treatment.
Joan, also do not unduly worry. Your beloved husband will be OK. He still has a lot to accomplish with the help of God.
You cannot fathom who I am but you do know me and my family as I know you and your family. I wish nothing but the general best for both of you.
God bless both of you and be with you at this time. Hope to see both of you when I visit DA soon. I am looking to my DA visit with eagerness.
Love, good health and regards. My prayers are with you and for you.

Come on man. WE all should know when enough is enough. Mr. Maynard should be retired and at home resting. I looked at the man speaking on the news the other day and i felt bad for the man. He had saliva coming from is mouth like a baby. This is not the years when he was in the freedom party, still young and strong. Take a beak now, you’re getting to old for that. That is where experience is not always the best thing, youth can be much better in that case.

He was awake and given orange juice. It was concluded that his collapse was related to his diabetic condition. I agree that it is time for him to cut back on his duties. How old is Charles Maynard?

Shouldn’t he be relaxing himself now, drinking his milk of magnesia, getting his wife to rub his feet with coconut oil, taking his litle sea bath now and then with some pomcoulie bush and generally enjoying his retirement?

What is this man looking for really?

Anyway, I sincerely hope he recovers soon and take this as a sign to get some rest and make things right with his maker.

    • Justice and Truth
      November 1, 2011

      @ Marcel

How old are you? Whoever you are wait until you get older. Generally speaking/stating, young/younger people and older people should keep busy and occupied. They must not be couch potatoes, if you know what this means. As long as they have life and God permits, they must carry-on certain duties and interests. This keeps them alive and well as well.
Those who are older should be conscious of getting ample rest/sleep; also proper nutrition and participating in activities as walking/running, if they are capable of doing so and health permits.
Remember the Archbishop of Trinidad, who was once the Bishop of Roseau who fell ill in T & T during an ordination.
I recently read that the T & T PM also fell ill and was hospitalized. She is younger than Mr. Charles Maynard and probably this Archbishop.
I recently had a conversation with someone and stated, the young get sick and they die too and some older ones live much longer than some young ones. Keep this in mind.
Never discriminate about those who are older for you too may reach that mileage if you do not get sick or die while young/younger.
In other words, allow them to do their own thing as long as life and health permits and do not criticize them. It is healthy for them. This is a lesson for you and those of you who are younger and never give it a thought that you too are aging and you day will come. Some of you act as if you will never grow old and die.
Activities of any nature do not cease because people become senior citizens, as long as they are able. People of any age could become sick under any circumstance.

Why didn’t you just educate us, smarty pants? As a general term, anyone involved in medicine can be refrered to as a medic. Physicians, nurses, medical students, emergency technicians, paramedics etc.

But I see where you are coming from. Your narrow-mindedness and hatred for members of that government and anyone who shows a shred of support is having the better of you. I respect your right to have an opinion, but yhe opinion you shared leaves much to be desired. Sickness knows no political boundary. It does not discriminate based on politics. If that was the case then we all would be rushing to find out which of our political parties is blessed or rather exempted from sickness. Isn’t Ron Green sick? Isn’t the first President of the UWP a very sickly person? Wasn’t the candidate for GrandBay in the 2005 general elections hospitalized at the start of his political camapaign? Are we aware that Matt Peltier, one of the foremost critic of government and alleged corruption is a very sick person? The list can go on and on. Let us know where our differences in politics can end. Certainly in events of sicnkess we cannot allow our petty politics to cloud our beter judgement.

    There is a passage in the bible of the apostle paul, on his way to Damascus to prosecute the christians, he was thrown of his horse, and was blinded temporally., and the rest is history, so let us the dominican diasporas come home custome free, and we will boost the economy, by spending pur retirement , money, and opneing business, mr skeritt, and rest.;

Yes, I agree. They want us to come home, to invest in DA, to open bank accounts, build in DA, but they make things so difficult for us Dominicans, who are Dominicans just like them.
The Pm talked about assistance to Dominicans abroad wanting to invest or open business in DA, well I have been trying for a whole year to get information of this assistance that they talk about, and up to now, no response. It was at the last Diaspora/cabinet meeting that I starting to seek info towards my quest and despite all my efforts at communicating with the folks I was directed to, I am no closer to anything than when I started last year at this time. This is a whole lot of talk, and when I see action to support the talk, I will think differently, but for now, many Dominican’s living abroad feel like “foreign Dominicans” contrary to what the PM said this morning.

    • November 2, 2011

      @Dominican abroad

“The man is older that Jesus” What are you saying?

God Almighty, Eternal Spirit created the world through Jesus Christ.

That is why the apostle John, as he teaches us about Jesus, whom he walked in this world with, he tells us:

“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God. “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made”. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father”.

Jesus told the Sadducees and the Pharisees who would not believe in His authority, when He walked among them: “Before Abraham was, I AM”. Remember that God Almighty told Moses to tell His people in Egypt, this His name was “I AM THAT I AM”!

At the book of Revelation, Jesus tells us through the apostle John again: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the End, who is and who was and who is to come– the Almighty”.

Jesus Christ and God Almighty, is “ONE God” in Spirit and in Truth. No human being in their grave–not even Adam–can be older than Jesus, much less for one who is still existing today.

Knowledge of God and His ways of Love, is the primary evidence of Eternal Life in us– the Life that we need to have if we want to spent Eternity in the presence of God Almighty.

We need to steadfastly focus on attaining knowledge of God through an intimate relationship with Him, by our faith. For we are not going to pass through that gate with the resource of things we heard through the human ear. Be careful!

Meanwhile! Dear God, I pray that You will guide Mr. Charles Maynard into a speedy recover. And yes dear God, speak to his mind. Let him realize that You have the plan for younger people to take his job. Give him the understanding, that as human beings You are still in control, and that You have mold our bodies, along with our minds to slow down, we must accept that control of Yours.

May Your Will be done O God. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

  26. G
    November 1, 2011

I am not surprised because a few weeks ago I saw Mr. Maynard on Marpin news and I commented this man needs to remain at home. Looking too feeble and weak. He has done well for his country now is the time to give his life totally to Jesus. God bless you and family Mr. Maynard.

    • November 2, 2011

      @G

My sentiment as well! That is the reason so many of us will simply leave just as we came, but it will be a tragic way to say goodbye.

We are so busy, running here, there, and everywhere attending to everything–good or bad. But what is the state or our conscience, minds, and heart–the complete make-up of our soul?

Without God we are still dead; “the flesh profits nothing”. The apostle James reminds us: “Just as the body without the Spirit is “dead”, so is faith without works “dead”.

We need to surrender to Jesus, now, when we have the privilege to do so. And not only that, we need to take time to maintain a steadfast and intimate relationship with Him–the way we will conceive Love and give birth to Life in the Spirit.

Otherwise, “dust you are and to dust you shall return”. The difference is we may return to the dust, but if we do so with Life–the nature of Love, we wil leave this dust in the grave, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. To God be the glory!

Charles Maynard has ben serving the government’s interest at the Diasporan forum and I’m sure he would have found a way to deflect my question so let me ask this question in this forum and hope that we get a valid answer.
While we are trying to motivate the diasporan it is also valid that we address the prostitution of our passports . DNO why is it that you all have not reported on the repeated request of the Indian embassy in Port of Spain Trinidad on the whereabouts of a criminal who is on the run , carrying a Dominican Passport and a young child. The government is trying to keep the matter under wraps hoping that the issue will go away. There are available valid copies of the letters of inquiry from the Indian Embassy. I hope the rest of the media bring this matter to the people of Dominica as we don’t expect DBS, Kairi and GIS to make such information available to the public. What is happening to our passports- can I still be proud of my Dominica passport or must I dispose of it?

As Diasporans we would like to hear the governments response on this issue ; Also DNO since your site is the most popular it would be prudent to broadcast such shameful occurrences. The copies of the letters from the embassy are readily available and your job as a media operation is to keep people in the know.

Mr. Maynard has served Dominica for quite a number of years, his children are grown and it is my humble opinion, that he needs to retire. It is obvious that the flesh is becoming weak and in the spirit of living a long, fruitful life with his family, I would suggest that he retires from active duty/work/politics.

So sorry to hear that. You continued to try and put in a full day’s work, against better counsel. Time to take it easy, enjoy life a bit more my friend and let the young guard take over. Get better soon.

    DEAR DOMINICANS

Lets us join hands hearts and minds to ask GOD to save MR Maynard in this time of need.

ITS SHAMEFUL THAT SOME OF US TRY TO POLITICISE ILLNESS—TWO OF OUR PM’s DIED IN OFFICE . EDDY TOULON SUFFERED THE SAME FATE YET SOME OF US ARE NOT LEARNING.

WHEN RAIN FALLS IT RAINS ON ALL OUR HOUSE TOP. WE DONT KNOW WHEN THE THIEF CALLED DEATH/SICKNESS COMES KNOCKING AT OUR DOORS!

MR MAYNARD SERVED OUR COUNTRY AND REGION WELL! BUT I THINK ITS TIME FOR HIM TO RETIRE FROM PUBLIC LIFE!

DNO YOU ARE SO RIGHT MR MAYNARD IS A DEVOUT CATHOLIC AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG IN SAYING SO!!!

Whats wrong in mentioning the faith of the man.. he is a devout catholic, other things were stated in describing Mr. Maynard. Why take offence with the devout catholic part?

not an accomplishment, especially when is he part of the corruption motorcade. What test did he have to take to be one or where did he get he graduate degree in “devoted catholic”. there are billions of devoted hypocrite Catholics. What does devoted catholic has to do with his health? what, they invincible?

“devout catholic” nahh devout catholics don’t sit by idly and allow the injustices of the world to be prolonged….remember Raul Silva Henriquez who steadfastly fought the oppresive regime of General Augusto pinochet….
