Charles Savarin to receive nation’s highest award

 Charles Savarin
Charles Savarin

The Dominica Award of Honor is to be bestowed on Charles Savarin on Monday.

Created in 1967, it is the highest honor presented by the state under the Meritorious Service Honors Act, Chapter Ninety Nine of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

This award is conferred on persons who have made significant contributions to the country.

That award is traditionally presented during Dominica’s annual independence celebrations.

The ceremony is expected to take place at 12:30 pm at the president’s office at Morne Bruce.

Savarin will be officially elected as Dominica’s Head of State in parliament today (Monday, September 30).

He is expected to be sworn in on Tuesday, October 1.

It seems that UWP wants to dictate to Skerrit what to do. It seems that UWP has 18 seats in Parliament. Well, well, well!!! Hon. Prime Minister continue to work for Dominica. When God is ready he will remove you. The majority of Dominicans are supporting you. Labourites are silent now. We are just watching. But for how long will our silence last? The Dominica Labour Party Is a force to be reckoned with. Skerrit, remember that the masses are with you and God is your guide.

You made me laugh. I wished. Writing is one of my pride and joy. I love writing and keeping involved in the goings on in Dominica and where I reside in Canada. This has been a trait of mine since youth. I am not a selfish person with also my time.
I have been told I should be a politician and/or a journalist. I am an advocate and I feel I can do some good behind the scenes. I can type some words in a twinkling of an eye. No two fingers on the keyboard.
If my schedule changes, DNO may not hear from me.
Thanks to DNO I am able to keep informed of the occurrences in Dominica. I am happy taking an interest in D/ca.
You know, I feel I am residing in Dominica when physically I am not. I can carry on a conversation about what is occurring in D/ca with other fellow Dominicans where we reside.
Until such time, I thank God he gives me the time or rather assists me to take the time to voice my opinion and hopefully to do some good.
My wish for Dominica and nationals is that it keeps peaceful and that whichever Party they support, everyone should try to get along. This is maturity and utilizing one’s common sense and psychology for peace and harmony. We should all try to get along also on this Website. God’s blessing and peace!

Hmmmmm, this really has me laughing with disbelief!!! Just unbelievable that an award NORMALLY GIVEN ON INDEPENDENCE DAY to a deserving person is instead given to Charles Saverin ON THE DAY OF HIS NOMINATION AND VOTE INTO THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT in what is, NO DOUBT, a deliberate act to rub cake in the faces of the opposition party!!! NOW TELL ME THAT THIS IS NOT IRRESPONSIBLE, CHILDISH AND ABSOLUTELY PROVOCATIVE BEHAVIOUR ON THE PART OF A PM WHO SAYS THAT HE IS NOT THE ONE WHO IS DIVISIVE!!!!!! Yes I…….AGAIN I SAY THAT ALL THEIR ACTIONS ARE DELIBERATE AND CALCULATED!!!!

I predicted that he would get it and wait for it ……………. Even if I become the biggest political prostitute the country has ever seen, jump from ministry to ministry without making any significant contribution, squander the countries money during the time it was most prosperous and did not invest in any sustainable initiatives to sustain the economy in the long term, single handily destroy a political party then to save myself jump to the other one that I detested and told Dominicans for over 20 years that they were a bunch of vagabonds and bad for Dominica, destroyed teachers during negotiations for higher pay even when I championed the right of workers in the past and went as far as shutting down the country, openly ask the Dominican public not to support particular business men because they were not aligned to the part I jumped on board with at the opportune time and last but by no means least pronounce every word like its ends with the letters TION or SION ………………….what do i get ……………….the highest award and the privilege of being head of state. TAKE THAT DOMINICA !!!!!. IT WAS MY MISSION TO BECOME THE BEST POLITITION AND PRESIDENT OF THIS NATION ……….TION TION SION SION TION

Garçon for once in your life stop being arrogant and listen to the people how can make you or break you. If you continue along that line I can only foresee self-destruction.
The ball is in your court. This nomination violates the constitution of the country yet you remain hell bent to see go through. All I can say to you is I wish luck. Please don’t be surprise when Dominicans speak to you at the polls.

Did you vote last election? Voting is an obligation of all nationals. Do you realize that if you did not (do not) vote, you do not have a voice? Therefore, if you never voted and whoever else did not vote, your ‘negative opinion do not count’. Wait for next election and if you vote, then and only then you will have a voice.
May God open your eyes and mind and that of other critics who divide Dominica, cause disunity and lack of peace in the land to adopt and practice the godly virtue of peace and respect to every one. May he grant you these graces to live obediently and peacefully.

Jay what do you know about Charles Savarin? Are you just repeating what other persons are saying about this man? For your information this man has served as the General Secretary of the Public Service Association and he championed their cause for a decent salary which he received for them which many are enjoying at this present moment. He served as a consul for Dominica in Brussels. He served under the Freedom Party Government as a Minister of Government. Well I guess you know that he served under this present Regime. I would expect you at least to know this.
What is outstanding about this Gentleman is whatever position he is given, he performs to the best of his ability. So My dear please read up on the man. That is what the “Antoinette” Internet is for.

If this man was an outstanding citizen he would read the constitution as it pertains to the president. If he had done that he could not in good faith accept this position. For one the way it is being sped up through the system, not waiting for Independence to be sworn in , it has corruption written all over it.

        CHAPTER II
        THE PRESIDENT
        Removal from office.
        24.-
The President may be removed from office under section 25 of this Constitution where-
        he wilfully violates any provision of the Constitution;
        he behaves in such a way as to bring his office into hatred, ridicule or contempt;
        he behaves in a way that endangers the security of Dominica;
He has done this before even being elected, but then again he is directly under the man that tells his people “go to hell” No constitution shall hold them back, and if all goes as the pm wants he will change the constitution. GET HIM OUT!

You write of vulgarity? What is your lifestyle like? Are you insinuating that it is without vulgarity? You are the vulgar one with your warped thoughts and false and negative imagination, creating problems where they do not exist.
It amazes me that people who probably do nothing for their country but talk and criticize feel that they have a voice in decisions of the Country, the State. They do not realize their error and lack of contribution to Dominica on the whole and its enhancement.
You little person you have much to learn. You who sit behind your computer screen and spew out hatred, when are you ever going to learn to live at peace and listen to the words of wisdom and common sense and have respect, be obedient and subservient to specifically the authority in the land, namely the Prime Minister of Dominica?

You are accusing the PM and those whom the PM nominated for President of whatever your lowly mind states on this Website. If you want to bring back whatever transpired and whatever you think transpired in bygone years, as I remember, the chief minister then (Prime Minister after Independence)who was campaigning for re-election against Ms. Eugenia Charles (RIP), opened his behind (ass – his buttocks) at Ms. Charles.
As a friend who has since passed on (RIP) told me, “It was Ms. Charles father’s coconut that sent him to high school.” His mother was a maid at his house. Did you know that?
I also heard his mother practiced obeah while in the employ of J.B. Charles that, something was seen and that this man also went to the cemetery -was found in the cemetery performing his obeah so that he would have been elected and/or harmed Ms. Charles.
I have a good memory. I listened to this friend and did not ask questions. What was stated to me retained in my mind, never to be erased as long as I have my mental faculties, thanks be to God. If only this friend were still alive to inform me further.
When you criticize the PM and Charles Savarin, you better do some research as to who are the corrupted ones. While you are at it, ask yourself or that man who is still alive, what happened to the money that Great Britain gave to Dominica which he had jurisdiction over? What was it spent on?
This is why I will uphold no leader in their wicked deeds of wanting to disrupt Dominica and place divisions among Dominicans and those who insult the present Prime Minister. This type of UWP leader who is causing unrest and division in Dominica is another one who should never be supported. Some of you state, Dominica finis bat. Under a new leadership this is when Dominica will fini bat and when you will experience the true word of ‘finis bat’. God who knows, sees and hears all things knows this.

    • Justice and Peace
      September 30, 2013

No! You are provoking him with your disrespect for his authority.
After all the melee during the time the then government wanted Statehood and Independence which the majority of Dominicans did not approve of, there must be a reason why Charles did what he had to do.
There was so much unrest in Dominica, outside fighting among D/cans, injuries and I wonder probably murder including the burning of the Registry building in Roseau. It was not a happy and peaceful time for Dominica. It was a fearful one.
It appears your memory is short. Or were you born or of age to comprehend what was occurring to Dominica at that and what ensued afterwards?
The government at that time did not want to listen to ‘the people’. The chief minister then wanted Independence from Great Britain by all means, as the saying, “Come hell or high water”.
Today, I wonder what was in it for him and what benefit would Independence be to Dominica? We have seen that it did absolutely nothing for Dominica but took it back many years even prior to the emancipation of slavery. Being independent, Dominica did not progress but regressed. After approximately 34 years of Independence, Dominica is still dependent on foreign help. This has absolutely nothing to do with the present PM.
Some nationals should also blame themselves for their lack of interest and living a leisurely life, thinking solely of themselves, those who never contributed to the revenue of Dominica.

As a few words of the song by Glen Campbell:

“Let me be a little kinder
Let me be a little blinder
To the faults of those around me
Let me praise a little more…”

Everyone has faults. You are not without faults. As some of you critics waste and expend your time and energy, your household is falling apart.
There is not one politician or one in power of the world who is perfect. Some people want another government as they lambaste the present one. If they get another one, it will not be long when they commence lamenting and say, “If only I knew.” Too late. Learn a lesson from that.
How do you critics expect to ever please God, live a relatively happy, peaceful, safe, productive and successful life and in the end obtain eternal salvation when you denigrate your PM and all his works which are for your benefit?
God detests complainers and ungrateful people. It is thanks to God who gave you all your faculties that you are able to use your mind, mouth and fingers to insult him in such a manner.
Our Lord said: “The insults of those who insult you fall on Me.” He who taught us to “Love one another” is observing and hearing. You and people as you will not evade his just punishment.

It’s kind of sad they way we do everything in Dominica. We play cat and mouse with some of the highest offices on the island. That normination can be extremely bad if the current administration looses the next election. Don’t know whay politics dominiate EVERYTHING in Dominica. Right now we are getting 6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other with the two main parties. I think we should all be independent and just vote and finish with that. We are more dividing the Island than bringing it together.

Best i stop teaching my children to be good citizen , because being good won’t take them places . I am so disappointed in the Labor party leadership, honestly . If people as you would examine your conscience, you will find that you have contributed to bad memories of the past and present. Who are you to throw stones?

I would not want you for president nor would other Dominicans. Therefore, keep your views to yourself. They are not worth a farthing or penny.

Justice and Peace Who is paying you “the Red Clinic” or are you the red clinic. Your head is in the clouds, talking about people being contributing members to society. Who can contribute when there are no jobs? Pull your head out.

You do not know what sorrow is. If only God would grant you your wishes, this would be the beginning of your sorrow and a neverending one. You ungrateful people may just get what you want. This is when Dominica will be ‘finis bat’. It will be your punishment.

You may never qualify for a crown on your head, be it in this life or in the next for all eternity. Your words, as imbedded in your heart and mind give you away and condemn you.
