Charlie Charlie Game a movie marketing stunt – report

It appears the much talked about Charlie Charlie Game is nothing more than a clever marketing stunt for an upcoming horror movie and has nothing to do with demons.

The movie “The Gallows” is to be released in July by Warner Bros’ according to reports.

In the movie a boy named Charlie is killed in a horrific accident during a small town high school play called “The Gallows”. Many years later students at the school attempts to ressurect the play in honor of the tragedy.

In the first teaser for the movie, a group of people are seen playing the Charlie Charlie Game as they try to find out if the ghost of Charlie was in the building.

The movie was filmed before the Challenge hit social media by storm.

Actually reports indicate variations of the game have been on Spanish social media sites for many years but it became populuar when some clever marketing person realized it could be used to promote the upcoming movie.

Since then the game has been tweeted millions of times, has been the subject of countless videos on YouTube, Vine and Facebook and has been Googled more than virtually any other news event.

The game was greeted with negative reactions by religious authorities saying it is demonic.

Last week local officials agreed and expressed concerns while warning young people to stay away from it.

The game was banned in St. Lucia and there are reports of strange behavior in other Caribbean countries by those who played it.

See teaser below of the movie, The Gallows, (La Horca, in Spanish).

I do not buy that this was created to promote a movie and it should not. We should consider that the warnings on not to play this game has been widespread across the Caribbean and did not start with Dominic.a. In the other islands, many became ill and behaved strangely. This cannot be a stunt.

      @peach June 3, 2015

How do you explain a person wanting souls for the devil, he/she who is speaking against the devil?

It is clear that you do not know the power of words–nonetheless yours is from the devil himself– his words and work is always futile–the product of defeat and death; for those who play his games with him.

My advice to you is to learn to guard the path if the thought which enters your mind, before you put it out through words–you may be speaking out your own destruction.

well, big surprise. You stack 2 hexagonal pencils on top of each other, of course there will be movement. We should be teaching children science, not superstition. Why is it that only poor, deeply religious people believe this? I was told this week by a group of children that mops and desks were flying around a school after someone did this, and everyone saw it. I asked why, when almost every child has a tablet or phone, there is no proof. Anywhere in the world.
These are the same children who believe some people change into fireflies or bats at night, and tattoos can be possessed, yet cannot pick out Dominica on a world map.
We need to stop filling our children’s head with nonsense.

So the point is? So as it is a game to market a movie that makes it ok? Really? The young ones should be warned against certain movies.

The point is all you people who believed this crap were had, duped, bamboozled, taken for fools. It seems the easiest way to create hype now is to prey on people’s superstitions. Look at how alkaline’s popularity skyrocketed because of the evangelical association’s futile attempts to stop him from coming because of ‘demonic’ stuff. You all make these things more popular by focusing on them so much.

If you all would teach your children to think for themselves and be more rational they wouldn’t fall prey to such stupidity in the first place. But then again if they learned to think for themselves they would see through all the superstitious nonesense you use to oppress them so I guess it’s a double-edged sword that you all will just have to live with.

If the Charlie Charlie Game was used – or is being used – to market a movie it in no way proves the game is not demonic.

Getting the news of Charlie Charlie on the internet and social media may have given the movie a boast But to say that Charlie Charlie was created to market the movie seems unlikely. To say it was used for this purpose is more probable.

Those who are mocking the claims that the game is demonic are acting true to form. People who are afraid of the paranormal usually respond in two ways. (1) They make a joke of it and try to laugh it off OR (2) they try to explain it away by offering natural causes and reasons.

There is no logical way to explain what causes pencils to move. Many people have witnessed it.

The demonic manifestations and pathological behavior of those involved are too uniform and come from too many places to be denied.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

      June 3, 2015

      Dear Rev. Hill
There is no proof that this game is demonic. How many cameras and phones are in existence, and not one second of proven demonic activity is recorded.
In fact, there is a reward Of $1,000,000 U.S.for the first proof of paranormal activity by the James Randi Assoc, but it remains unclaimed, years later.
Of course there are logical explanations for precariously balanced items moving. E.g. Gravity, air movement,. I.e.the Laws of Physics.
And some of us have no fear of the paranormal. Of course there are things that cannot yet be explained, but Scientists are working on them. (And without the Scientists, we would all still be believing that the earth is flat and the sun revolves around us)

        Sad….but true!

      • June 4, 2015

What do cameras and phones have to do with demons :?:

Demons are spirits and therefore spiritual in nature. Because of this they do not take a very good picture.

We are aware of James Randi’s lifestyle and work. I am not sure if he is still living but I do know he had (has) a deep dislike for Christians and almost a driving psychological need to discredit any claims of genuine supernatural happenings.

Many years have passed since this happened and I do not now have the documentation in my possession. But I do know that the editor of one of our official church magazines took Mr. Randi up on his challenge years ago by publishing the story of a miraculous healing by prayer of an incurable illness. (There have been many.) This particular event was well known among us and was challenged by none. Needless to say the editor – a personal acquaintance and friend of mine – never heard from the old magician.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill, D.D., International Evangelist.

Rev it is people like you who cause our children to be dumb, If you were a true believer you would otherwise advise people to steer away from such foolishness. It is evident you are just as foolish as the rest of us who waste our time being entertained by worldly garbage such as this . Hell hell hell you are going if you do not change your ideology and way of thinking.

      • June 4, 2015

        Big Bannon:

I think you mean well but you must be responding to somebody elses comments.

        (1) I do steer people away from such foolishness.

        (2) I would indeed consider it a waste of time to be entertained by such worldly garbage.

The Charlie Charlie materials are not healthy entertainment. As for the so called ”game” it is
        harmful spiritually, psychologically, and physically.

When somebody calls for Charlie (or any particular entity) there is a possibility that other spirits will also show up. When a “portal” is opened we have no control over what comes though.

Another problem is the spirits do not always leave when you are through with them.

I only read and watch what I must to be informed. This is part of my work. My wife and I do not even attend movies in theatres. Actually, we have no time for entertainment. Those who know us across Canada would verify this!

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist. :-P http://www.livinghopeministries...

    • June 4, 2015

Reverend Hill I agree with you!

What is making that game less evil (or demonic) because they claim it the basis a movie. Most of those movies themselves, are just as bad as the devil himself.

People need to understand that the feeding to mind, with futility and darkness, produces a tragic effect–for they are the food of death all in all

Please fire the government official who commented on this game. This is public, gross incompetence at the highest level. It’s bad enough to be incompetent at your public sector job, but to broadcast it is fireable offence.

    • June 4, 2015

There are exceptions to everything. But generally speaking those who have warned you against the Charlie Charlie Challenge have been educated people and often leaders in their fields.

I am surprised and appalled at the tone of those commentators who disagree with us. Educated people know the value of discussion and debate. Even if they totally disagree with an hypothesis they are willing to hear both side of an issue. It is not academic and certainly not professional to talk down to your opponent and resort to name calling.

I was shocked to read Stealth Critque saying ”Please fire the government official who commented on his game.” First this flies in the face of freedom of speech which I expect is protected in Dominica. Second the minister is not alone. Other leaders in the fields of government, education, and religion both in Dominica and overseas have said the same thing.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

When the PS of Health and the Minister of Youth came out with serious warnings about this, it was so laughable to me. I wondered if they had any background in science; or if they belong to any religion. They were so convinced that this was evil that they actually made a public statement about it. Just putting fear in the minds of the gaulible.

    • June 3, 2015

Actually, those who warned against the Charlie Charlie Challenge included well educated people who are leaders in their fields among which is a priest with a Ph.D., and a number of evangelical leaders, along with government ministers.

My background includes studies in psychology and counseling. I am an evangelist with a deliverance ministry who has seen demons crying with loud voices come out of those who are possessed in both Canada and the Caribbean. People who make a joke of this are those who have not seen it, and know nothing about the field.

Please, please do not make light of these things. You will be leaving yourself open to the enemy. It is not something I would wish on anybody.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist. (Pastoral Counselor Certificate)

Wow religious leaders and political leaders. Such fine examples of unbiasedness. It’s not like the religious leaders have any incentive to favor information that sits well with the doctrines of their particular faith or that politicians have any incentive to appeal to the general consensus of hyper-religiousity and superstition of their electorate.

No sir these people are clearly unbiased and have no conflicts of interest so obviously their opinions should matter. It doesn’t matter if they provide no factual data patterning to their specific fields, but rather go by hearsay and rumors. Ain’t nobody got time for facts and nonesense like that.

Demons are spirit people, they indwell a physical medium–especially human beings to do the work of evil.

The man in the Bible was indwelt by such a large number of demons who was named Legion. Through the man that demon ask Jesus to send them into the herd of swine, which was nearby. The herd of swine quickly ran into the sea where they were all drowned.

So where did the movie got its inspiration from? Keep summoning demons. what a foolish game to play with children. what ever happened to marbles and hopscotch. The game is evil and children should stay away from this.

    • June 4, 2015

@DA Girly June 3, 2015 “So where did the movie got its inspiration from?”

Way to go my friends–my sentiment as well. The movie is just as bad as the game; for the theme would still have a bad affect on the minds of those who watch it.

      • DA Girly
        June 4, 2015

It is geared towards the minds of children who are innocent… why isn’t geared towards older people. Then we lament about the destruction of today’s youth. It is the infiltration of tricks as these and the ignorance of adults which allows the decay of today’s generation. The devil is the biggest trickster and he knows how to penetrate a society. The devil does not walk around with horns like we were taught.

    • June 5, 2015

@DA Girly June 4, 2015 “It is geared towards the minds of children who are innocent”

Amen! That is what I am talking about from the beginning. The mind of a child does not know the difference, the devil knows that–that is the reason, he would woo the children by using that feature through his wicked scheme.

Those adults who are saying “I tried it so I can believe” but nothing happened. They do not understand that the devil would not give them any poof to stand against him–that is the reason he would be quiet during their participation of the game.

As I have said many times before, Charlie or no Charlie, there are many demons in this world–their father is the “Devil” himself. He is the head of the wicked angels, who were cast out from heaven, without physical bodies, they are all over this world today, creating vile and discord in the lives of those who choose to stand with God, in Jesus Christ–but he cannot have victory; God cannot be defeated!

  15. June 3, 2015

If there is even the remote possibility that this somehow could affect even one child the authorities are correct in sounding the warning bell to help protect our youth. It is serious enough that first world countries are warning their youth, why shouldn’t Dominica?

And why would anyone ridicule the authorities for trying to protect our youth? Would they rather the authorities say nothing then come back and say our children and parents and teachers were not warned of the possible dangers? Would that be better?

I would like to congratulate the authorities for being proactive in this situation.

      June 3, 2015

Plastic bags have a chance of actually killing young children. You don’t see them coming and talk about people reducing their use of plastic bags (and it would be good for the environment too). How about they used their time to tackle important issues like consumption of alchohol by underage children instead. But not – it’s easier to tackle scary sounding stuff like ‘demons’ and ‘evil’. Seriously these people don’t realize how stupid they sound in this day and age talking about stuff like that.

    • Peace
      June 3, 2015

Erm, first world countries have not issued warnings about this. Just certain religious groups. The newspapers have all clearly stated that it is the laws of physics moving the pencils.
The only hysteria in evidence is as a result of suggestion.
Therefore, the sooner we stop filling our children’s heads with nonsense, the sooner this country can move forward.

      • June 7, 2015

        Peace:

You say ”the newspapers have all clearly stated it is the law of physics moving the pencils.”

        What law of physics :?:

To help me with my research please give me the name of just ONE of the newspapers that said this.

If a pencil was balanced on top of another even a humanly undetected vibration could cause it to roll off. Even this would not account for the way the pencil moved to YES or No without falling off!

However if you looked closely at the pictures you would see it was not one pencil balanced on top of another which would be difficult to do. It was a pencil laid across another pencil. The question is what caused the pencil on top to move top YES or NO.

The various explanations that have been offered either do not apply or they are totally meaningless. To simple uneducated people they sound like ”science” so your side gains a little credibility. That does not work with me.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill, D.D., International Evangelist.

According to which reports exactly, DNO? Evil is perpetuated via many mediums and the targets of which remain the same. That being said, the proof and seriousness of the consequences of such a game, should not be underestimated.

For instance, it would not hurt to investigate such films such as poltergeist and subsequently the demise of the film’s children actors. There are such others if research is done.

Let us try to protect our children and not be so dismissive about the consequences of the medium being engaged in.
