Church leaders call for peace, delivery of justice

As a week of peace is being held on the island, Dominican leaders have been called upon to consider their role in the delivery of justice.

A group of church leaders, who have formed the Interdenominational Committee on Crime and Violence, has said it is strengthening its move for peace this week amid several robberies that have plagued the nation recently.

A service at Trinity Baptist Church on Sunday launched “Peace Week”.

“We start this week with this service with the expressed focus of exhorting and praying, for all leaders to get involved in this fight not just with the flat rhetoric but visible, tangible action, which will encourage followers to do the same,” said local pastor Randy Rodney, a member of the Interdenominational Committee on Crime and Violence.

He said economic growth and family life will be affected negatively, without teamwork from Dominicans to curb and eliminate crime and violence.

A day of prayer for peace and panel discussion will also be part of Peace Week, which runs until Christmas Day.

well good move good start but peace must begin with repentance and finding peace within yourself with the grace of the Almighty. Then it can move on to peace with others and so forth

The churches are just doing lip service/ putting on an outward show at this time of ‘Peace on earth…’ They forget there is also a part which says ‘…..good will to men….’

There will be no peace without equal rights and justice.
As long as our society (the powers that be) has it that all men are equal, but some are more equal than some, there will be no peace.

Peace has to come from within (our conscience) not the outward show.

some of our religious leaders need to make peace with each other. especially those who are presently crying for peace. Let there be peace of earth and let it begin with me. Pastors need to reconcile with each other. Ask pastor the pastor from soufriere and his superintendent they know what i’m talking about. Who fighting for position, where they can’t perform. What a shame and disgrace. Pastors stop making the devil laugh at you all

as for that man self self self

i doh even know what to say again

The bible speaks about the last days and the role of false prophets.

I want peace and I accept PEACE but some WOLVES in SHEEP CLOTHING have too much Guts.

I know I am a sinner ND ITS NOT MY DUTY TO JUDGE ANYONE but a someone who know what I know its a complete shame . Its said we dont have o look at the messenger but only the message, but if we fail to take heed we might believe that the messenger is a mirror image to the message. The good book tellls us to be weary of such and SATAN IS A BIG DECEIVER !

I PRAY FOR PEACE in my heart my mind my family my country and the world but there are those who live DOUBLE LIVES and I know they dont have PEACE OF MIND because of the wy they lead their lives and bring hurt and pain to peoples family and relationships. I do hope that the find the need to ask for forgiveness to those affected because PASTOR.CHURCH KING thats the best way to begin PEACE .

‘peace for piece’…you don’t sound like you know what you’re talkin bout, so why don’t you shut the hell up! cuz if you knew, you’d realise, the point of having the peace svc was so that leaders of the country could realise, the only way we can stop crime and violence happening is if we work together.

and unless you living in the pastors home, don’t come an tell me how dey living. i don’t understand you dominicans, always lookin at everybody else, except yourselves, don’t worry, i hope you know, if the pastors are saved, they won’t go 2 hell, unlike you.

if you really accepted peace, then you’d know dat you still have to be friends to your enemies. scripture says do good to those who despitefully use u…so…do u really have peace? i don’t think so, go an crawl back to your ‘piece of peace’ (dats my interpretation)
