God helps those who help themselves. We cant just sit back and relax praying and hope that crime and violence will stop. We have to take the necessary actions and then we will see a change.

Congrats to Pastor Randy, Pastor Marcus, Bishop Malzaire and the other religious leaders for organizing a successful service.

People must realise that the service was promoting peace in the fight agains crime and vioence. For all the violent crimes being committed @ present in our country, I would think DOMINICANS would understand and appreciate the fact that these leaders and other members of the committee aren’t just sitting on their laurels and doing nothing.

they are doing something, what are you other dominicans doing against crime and violence?

smh…it’s a sad state when our country critizes and can’t appreciate when people are doing someting good. Just goes to show you can’t please everybody.

Also, police need to show their presence. They need to come off their HQ, do vehicular patrols, motor cycles, bicycles etc.

Many of the latest robberies are done in daylight because fellers know police are all in the hhills searching for weed or sitting at their station waiting for food. It’s a no brainer for both police and the thieves!

It is interesting to read about this Week of Peace when last year, I heard renowned Criminologist and Sociologist, Dominica born Dr. Peter St. Jean organizing a Peaceful Dominica Week — it was in April and I attended the events that he took to the various communities around Dominica. I did not hear any pastors supporting the effort, except Fr. Cuffy who attended the opening, and a couple others. The proposal that Dr. St. Jean and his people put before the government called for a Peaceful Dominica Week, but it is a week of substance as you can see in the proposal. When are we going to take our own professionals seriously. I wonder if the holy folks invited Dr. St. Jean and his team to participate, or they believe that there is no place for scientists in their prayers. If they are serious, I hope they will contact him and support what he and the other of us working on the ground in Dominica with him are doing, and not act as if the only things we can support are the things that we start.

Why is it that religious leaders of today seek the easy way out? Let me remind you leaders that Jesus’ work on earth was a hard struggle which lead to his crucifixion. I hope your eyes are fixed on this perfect example. Let me tell you now that Peace only comes when there is equal rights and justice. So let us agitate for just that and peace will follow. I suppose a campaign for justice will put you at odds with Skerrit and his cabal since you will have to fight for electoral reform and condemn Skerrit’s corruption. That’s too messy for you, so you choose the easy way out, a campaign for peace. What a bunch of cowards you religious leaders are. You all are failing the children of God. The true leaders of God will join me in the fight for JUSTICE in Dominica.

At least they are trying something. But I think people in Dominica need to take a good look in the mirror. And ask themselves “Am I hungry? Am I cold? Am I very sick that I can’t work? Get off your backside young people ,you are a burden on your hard working parents. Even the paro do not starve in Dominica! You have too much compared to cold nations! Drop all those violent f…kers in the snow see how long they can last! Awa Oui! I do not have the answer but I believe they are too soft on crime and the courts are all on holiday 24/7. That is the problem. You think Jamaica is bad Dominica is getting worse! And the young people are too lazy to go in the garden. Big tip “There is food in the garden get your arse up and plant it! Parents spare the rod spoil the child that is the root of the problem. Peace to all Good luck.

How ironic. Peace service at 4:pm for all religious heads etc. hmmmm. People’s church find to organise men’s seminar on a day like today? Where is the unity brothers and sisters? Talk about coming together. Each man to himself trying ti build his own kingdom. You guys just dont get it. when there is unity among the evangelicals things MUST happen. Until then you guys are just wasting your time.

religion is worse than slavery. of all the atrocities that the Europeans inflicted on our forefather none of them comes close to religion. how can you pray ourselves out of poverty and lack of job opportunities that, without question, eventually leads to social unrest and the crimes, notably robbery, that we are witnessing on the island. No wander this country is second to Haiti in terms of destitution in the Caribbean. you mean to say that there isn’t any educated person(s) here in quasi-Haiti that can diagnose the defect and propose intelligent, informed solutions? Dominica just full of jackals.

Peace is a wonderful thing…but please, help me, I did not know we were at war and certainly not to the extend that we must dictate a whole week of prayer to this. I’d rather we tackle real issues, like inequality, the lack of justice, poverty, inadequate health services and the like. Especially at this time of year we should make sure that all shall eat and not just a few. Sitting in church, wearing white, lighting a candle and filling collection plates are not going to address these accute needs.I am truly sorry to sound cynical at christmas time but somehow I can’t shake the feeling that either the churches are misguided or this is an orchestrated diversion exercise. I wish a charitable christmas to all, especially those in need.
Let’s share without precondition and peace will reign.

What foolishness ; no amount of prayer is going help.just deal with the problem at it’s root. Talk about the corruption with the police and government ;talk about lawyers and corrupt judges.

You just don’t get it. Probably you have not experienced the power of prayer. When you say such thing like no amount of prayer cannot… , you are actually going against the Great Creator’s words. Come on the World is not ours… The Creator did it. Who are we to go against God’s word who have asked to pray without ceasing.

i think we should take to the streets most of the people who commit crime don’t listen to the midea.we should take the massage to them nor wait for them to come to us.

The root of the problem is that there is very little employment for people here in Dominica. Money is extremely hard to come by and the young want material things and in order to have them need instant cash, so go and rob someone to get it! Many young people have no morals and no longer go to Church! Also if the robber or robbers are found they very rarely pay for the crime as the court system here in Dominica fails the criminal and the ordinary person in the street! The courts are constantly adjourning cases, so the criminal very rarely receives a punishment or sentence! As we know persons accused of murder are allowed bail! What message does this give out it should be “If you do the crime you do the time”! Here it is that you may never have your day in court to have a chance to do the time!! This situation is a disgrace and the judges, magistrates and court workers need to start to do the work they are paid to do and bring law and order here in Dominica! What possible excuse do they have?

The two most important things that can help Dominica to begin to address the wave of crime in Dominica, are Respect and Justice, these are the two most abused
attitudes in the country, we have to take back control of these driving forces of any society. But the idea to try something is a good start.
I pray that God’s influence Prevail:
