Cuba Solidarity Association plans to honour Fidel Castro in November

HSA Executive Members with the Ambassador (left to right): Second Vice President Kingsley St. Hill, President Marlene Alexander, Cuban Ambassador Jorge Soberon, Treasurer Liza Fontenelle and Public Relations Director Selva Wilson.

The newly elected Executive Committee of the Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia-Cuba) has paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Jorge Soberon, at the Cuban Embassy at Rodney Bay.

The main order of business was to congratulate and welcome to office the HAS’s newly-elected executive and discuss a plan of activities for the year 2017-2018.

Among the matters discussed was an activity to mark the celebration of the First Anniversary (November 2017) of the death of Cuban President and Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Rúz.

The association is of the view that it is important to highlight the works of Fidel Castro, as a model President, who made an extremely significant impact on a global scale, in numerous areas.

The late Fidel Castro was a monumental proponent of government action and public sector investment in education, health, sports, environmental management, science, social engineering, agriculture, etc.

He was a giant among men in matters of regional and international politics, with particular emphasis on the need for Third World populations and their governments to liberate themselves from the yoke of colonialism, imperialism, and unbridled and inhumane capitalism.

The association continues to pursue the essential tenet of its mandate, encapsulated in our struggle “To engender cordial and open relations between the people of Saint Lucia and Cuba; to disseminate information about Cuba; and to explore the development of cultural exchanges between the two countries.”

The new Executive Committee of the HSA will be pursuing its mandate with added enthusiasm during 2017 under the capable and experienced leadership of Sister Marlene Alexander, as the Association boldly steps into a brand new era of its nearly 12-year existence.

Present at the meeting were: President Marlene Alexander, First Vice-President Peter “Pel” Lansiquot, Second Vice President Raphael Kingsley St. Hill, Secretary Nicholas Jean Baptiste, Treasurer Liza Fontenelle and Public Relations Director Selva Wilson.

Meanwhile, Executive Members have since written to the Cuban Ambassador to express deep appreciation for the opportunity to meet him and for the warm welcome they received at the embassy.

The meeting was very fruitful and allowed the executive members to discuss priority activities of mutual interest in collaboration with the embassy.
The association looks forward to our continued collaboration and to future meetings.

Some people need to find more productive things to do with their time than sit here and bash the late Fidel. What, will that send you all to heaven? Go check yourselves and own lives.

Why do “people” remember folks after they are dead? Eh! That must be some pagan tradition. Remembrance after death should be left to the family of the absent one.

Giving scholarships to those who are in need is good, but that in it self don’t make him a hero. When you see the state of the Cuban people, I would say good riddance to Castro.

Fidel Castro deserves to be remembered and honored for all he has done. Dominicans are recipients of his generosity and scholastic education. Those who are more familiar with his good works can better detail his good works.
I will also not forget that he welcomed the Popes to Cuba. When he was well, he attended the gathering, the Holy Mass. He patiently listened to the Popes’ Homily. Oh yes! The Popes did not water down the general teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ and toward humanity, treating nationals with dignity and recognizing their rights. This also says much for Fidel Castro.
I can tell you the Catholic Church prays for everyone in general with no exception. I prayed and hope God forgave Castro for being a dictatorship government.
God took count of his good works and especially the education of Dominicans and other nationals. Whatever good works he has done live on. RIP.
God is Good. God is love. God is Merciful. God is Forgiving.

    • Whatever good Castro did will not get him into heaven. His good deeds will not be balanced against his bad deeds. This is not the plan of salvation. Praying for the man after he is dead will not help one way or another.

It is what the individual did during his life with Christ that will decide his eternal destiny. He can receive HIM as his personal Savior now and be saved for time and eternity by believing that HE died for his sins and rose again, or he can reject HIM. If he rejects HIM all his religion will not earn him one minute in heaven. He must trust the shed BLOOD of Christ alone and nothing else to put his sins away.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

      • Continuation:

Was Castro a baptised Catholic :?: So was Hitler :!: But their baptism did not put eternal life in their souls nor change their hearts. The Bible declares *… … no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.* Hitler murdered 6,000,000 Jews. Jesus said *Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.* (John 3:3) Obviously baptism does not give you eternal life.
You must be born again by BELIEVING and RECEIVING Christ as your Savior according to John 1:12, and 1 John 5:11-13.

This is what the word of God (the Bible) tells us. There is no other way. Who will you believe :?:
Will it be the word of God or what your priests tell you :?:

It is written *… … if they speak not according to THIS word, it is because there is no light in them.* (Isaiah 8:20)

        Please read:

        John 14:6
        Acts 4:12
        Romans 5:6-8
        1 John 1:7
        Hebrews 9:22
        Hebrews10:17,18
        Ephesians 2:8,9
        John 3:16
        John 3:18

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

  6. All such dictators before him are dead and someday their enslaving doctrines will be wiped from the face of the earth.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

Seriously Rev? Liberal homosexual laws are not enslaving doctrined? Smh

      • Of course they are!

All who are not saved (born again) are on the broad and crowded road to hell and destruction.

The revoking of the laws against homosexuality and the legalizing of same sex marriage results in more people being bound by the cords of this sin. This makes it more difficult for them to surrender to Christ. Because we oppose communism does not mean we approve homosexuality. Both are snares of the devil; one intellectual and the other physical.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist. (Pastoral Counselor Certificate)

    Viva Fidel.

  8. How long will these people continue to honor their former communist dictator who did so much harm to the nation and caused so much grief :?:

How can people honor Castro unless they uphold the ideology (communism) he stood for and promoted :?: This evil Marxist philosophy caused incredible damage wherever it was embraced. Finally it collapsed in country after country due to its own internal rot.

Instead of celebrating his memory Cubans should be praying that God will heal their nation. Let them open their doors for the return of the evangelical missionaries. May the glorious liberating gospel of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 1:16, Galatians 1:8,9) be preached in every village, town, city, and rural area until New Testament churches blanket the entire island, and every person knows that Jesus is Lord :!:

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

he was there GOD! Just like how that one in Dominica have some of them DOM-IN-CANS thanking after he is gone there will be no more dominica

    • But Jesus Christ is alive :!:

He is the only one who can save and give hope to the nation.

The Apostle Peter said *Neither is there salvation in any other: for here is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be saved.* (Acts 4:12)

It is only by BELIEVING that Christ on the cross died for our sins – paying the price in full for our salvation – and by RECEIVING HIM as our Savior – we can be saved. Please read Isaiah 53:4,5 and Romans 5:6-8. Now read the promises in John 1:12, 1 John 5:11-12, and Revelation 3:20. This is your written guarantee and it can no more fail any more than God can fail :!: Yes, you can KNOW now in this life you are saved and going to heaven. How can you be sure :?: Because God himself says so! It is not what your church says that matters. It is what God says! Who will you believe :?: Please take your Bible and read it for yourself in 1 John 5:13.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.
