The Fond Cole Improvement Committee has benefited from a donation of 64 cartons of energy saving light bulbs, courtesy of the Cuban Embassy.

Cuba’s Ambassador to Dominica, His Excellency Juan Carlos Frometa de la Rosa` handed over the bulbs to members of the committee at a ceremony held at the Fond Cole Community Centre on Friday morning.

“We are planning to assist as many of the residents of Fond Cole as possible,” Chairman of the Fond Cole Improvement Committee, Dexter Honore told Dominica News Online (DNO). “We received at least 756 bulbs, so that means we should be able to assist over 700 people.”

He pointed out that the committee plans to distribute the bulbs in the community in an effective way, “so that the people can benefit so that they can save because they are energy saving bulbs.”

“We are thankful for the privilege to do so,” Honore stated.

    Good for the locals. Applause.
Now, I wonder if Cuban citizens have the sources or options to even purchase similar items. Isn’t bulb blocked by embargo. I am confused. I know some one who did medicine in cuba and had to read the books with candles.
