DAPD Educational Week of Activities begin Monday

The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities Incorporated (DAPD Inc.) holds an Educational Week of Activities from Monday, November 22 to Sunday, November 28. 2010.

The programme will be observed under the theme: “Accessibility: A Key to Persons with Disabilities Independence.

The objectives of the programme are:
*To highlight the challenges faced by persons with disabilities due to lack of access to the physical environment, services, facilities, and programmes.
*To educate the public on Article 9 and other related articles of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
* To increase the awareness  of the public on the need to create an “all-inclusive” society.

The week’s programme  will feature:
Monday November 22: Radio Address by Minister for Social Services Hon. Gloria Shillingford

Radio and Television News Items
Tuesday November 23: Talking Point Programme
Closing of Sign Language Programme 4: 30 p. m.
Wednesday November 24:  Heng Programme:  Kairi FM Radio
Thursday November 25:   Exhibition at DAPD
Friday November 26:        Exhibition continues
Saturday November 27: Discussion on Youth Vibes
Sunday November 28   Church Service  — Portsmouth
Northern District Meeting and establishment of District Committee

    Let me take this opportunity to wish the DAPD a successful Eductional Week of Activities. I urge the general public to support the association’s Week of Activities without reservation. God bless the DAPD as they continue to work with and advocate on behalf of people with disabilities.
