The Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) is hosting its 10th Annual Dollar Day on Friday (today).

Executive Director of the DAPD, Nathalie Murphy said this year the association did not have a specific target.

“This year we did not put a target, we decided let us leave it open, whatever people are able to contribute…we will welcome it,” she said. “We are always pleased and satisfied with the contributions that people normally make. We are just leaving it opened to the good will and generosity of the Dominican public to contribute whatever they can.”

According to Murphy, the public can contribute in various ways.

“They can mail their contributions, they can deliver it, they can place it in donation boxes that we have at some of the business places in Roseau or they can look out for us on Friday,” she explained. “Some of us will be out in Roseau going around and soliciting the support as well as other villages around the island where we have some of our members and people acting on our behalf.”

The entire public is encouraged to participate in this yearly event.

The theme for this year National Dollar Day is ‘Surviving Amidst Adversity”.
