Dominican businessman in Denver, Elvis Edwards, has plans to revitalize agriculture in his native country in terms of Medical Marijuana and the hemp industry.
The Marijuana Industry is growing rapidly and many countries are changing their stiff laws in regards to cannabis and Edwards wants Dominica to be one of them.
He believes now is the time for Dominica to strike “when the iron is hot” since the island’s agriculture industry has suffered through the years and was basically obliterated by Hurricane Maria last September.
“Dominica has the opportunity to be a leader in the Cannabis Industry,” Edwards said. “It just has to make the moves early so it does not have to play catch up later. Medical marijuana is growing and we have the opportunity to make a mark on the industry. It is not the typical crop but our agriculture can bounce back if we put plans together to move forward in the industry.”
Five days after Maria, Edwards traveled to Dominica.
There he witnessed the total chaos in the aftermath of the hurricane and the lack of communication with the outside world.
He said it was in this solitude that he had a lot of time to reflect on the pain and devastation that the hurricane caused.
In his reflection, he thought of the people of the Caribbean and how they would benefit from the stress-relieving benefits of cannabidiol, a compound that has significant medical benefits but does not make people feel “stoned.”
When the re-building began, many were still without power. It was at that time that Ewards opened a restaurant called “Bird’s Nest”. It was the first restaurant to provide the community with a hot meal and a cold drink.
Once he was back in Colorado, Edwards felt strongly for the need to create a product that could replace opioid addiction, reduce stress, and encourage healthy lifestyles here and in the Caribbean.
Elvis Edwards teamed up with one of the best companies in Colorado that produce medical grade hemp oil.
They developed four products that will be sold by CBDxr.
The products are Daily Softgels (40mg and 75mg Hemp Oil), RAPID Tablets (35mg Hemp Oil), CBD Tinctures – Full Spectrum (250mg Hemp Oil), and Topical Patches (100mg Hemp Oil).
CBDxr is the first CBD product to be sold in select gas stations in Colorado.
Edwards is also the inventor of Vaprwear, wearable vaping technology, and also the inventor of CBD Care Garden, hemp-based wellness and beauty products.
He now wants to develop Medical Marijuana and provide the benefit of Hemp oil.
With this in mind, he believes that Dominica would be the ideal place to grow the plant.
He thinks the rich volcanic soil, the favorable weather of rain and sun and the terrain are all conducive for the cultivating of cannabis.
Edwards hopes that he can meet with the relevant Government authorities and other stakeholders in Dominica to discuss the matter further.

Good luck with the venture. As a kid, I remember folks were against the development of the tourism industry because of fear of the unknown (re: the corruption of Dominican youth). But where have these youth gone? To those ‘corrupt’ destinations to better themselves and their families back home.
Whenever a Dominican in the Diaspora attempts to support and build Dominica, there are many who are bent in frustrating him, while they and there children live a better life back home or elsewhere (crabs in a barrel).
If we truly love Dominica, let’s support our country men and women who have only the best intention for the country. (And he could invest his money in Canada, the US or elsewhere). To our country men and women in the Diaspora, if you can’t support with your wallets, refrain from that diatribe.

I was a kid in Wesley too; but in my day as a young lad growing up, nobody thought of murder, never mind murdering their very own relatives. In the event you do not know boy; Wesley has become the murder capital of Dominica. Should I tell you the reason why which I am sure you already know?
If you are bewildered, or have forgotten, it was not until the advent of Marijuana, followed by the use of cocaine, which are mind altering chemicals. By the time the same youths you mentioned got hooked on marijuana they began to kill people in our village.
If you condone the legalization of Marijuana in our country I feel sorry for you!

Very good business ideas. I can’t help but think of how quickly we lost our livelihoods in the banana business and the exodus of our farmers from agriculture. There is also a need to capitalize on the growing opportunities in recreational marijuana which also provides great benefits not only for those who are prone to blindness due to the effects of glaucoma given their family history with glaucoma, and other ailments related to eye pressure, but also the potential to boost tourism as it relates to recreational marijuana. We can only win with these forward thinking economic ideas.

If and whenever marijuana is used for medicinal purposes in Dominica, any and everyone should not be allowed to plant it. Persons should be granted a license from the government to do so. There should be strict adherence to the rule in order to ensure that it is used only for that purpose by those who are allowed to plant it for medicinal purposes.

If you can do so much with a hemp industry, how come you are not doing it where you are at the moment? We know that there are certain type of material which can be developed from “Hemp.” There was a time when it was used in the production of rope!
The problem is; it is not profitable to produce anything out of Hemp due to the quantity of raw hemp needed for production. Look at it this way, there are much more land in North America and Europe to plant Hemp and Marijuana. My question to you is this: can you identify any place where they are planting hemp, for the purpose of producing anything for profit?

personally I think Dominica should let the rest of the world legalise whatever they want and stay out of that one, there are too many lost minds , lazy young men around Dominica their minds and ambitions destroyed by cocaine and marijuana which are now illegal creating a burden not only on themselves but society , people houses broken into farmers produce stolen. I had my house broken into and my plantains stolen on many times . I had the thieves arrested and one guy;s father had tears in his eyes complaining that all his son wants to do is smoke marijuana, He got probation but got later four years for breaking into his aunts house let us replant bananas ,plantains coconut and all that was destroyed by Maria
