As Digicel celebrates its 10th year of operations on the island, Country Manager of the company, Richard Stanton has revealed that the company has invested over US$50 million in the last decade in Dominica.

He made that statement while delivering an address at the Digicel 10th Anniversary launch held at the Fort Young Hotel on Friday.

The company launched its services in Dominica in 2006 giving Dominicans the opportunity to choose their telecommunications provider.

Stanton said the company has made significant stride over the years in the area of information, communication, and technology.

“Overall Digicel has invested over US$50 million in the last 10 years in the Dominica economy,” he said. “This year we are truly happy to celebrate 10 years, looking back at where we started how far we come and where we are headed.”

Stanton indicated that the company has sponsored a number of activities over the years including local feasts and fetes and this year is giving away $10,000 in its cash giveaway promotion in May.

“Customers just need to text 10 to 7171, activate a new mobile broadband or TV account, talk for 10 minutes or pay their postpaid bill for a chance to win,” he explained. “We are also giving customers the opportunity to win $10,000 in cash in a competition dubbed, the ‘Be Extraordinary Jingle Contest, exposing local talent.

He said the company pledges to continue working towards the development and culture in Dominica.

Meantime Sales and Marketing Manager of Digicel, Nathalie Walsh said 10 years is a milestone and is indeed an occasion to celebrate an opportunity to quickly look back at an extraordinary opportunity to plan the path forward.

“We have made great strides in ensuring the Dominicans benefit from the best-valued promotion,” Walsh said.

She thanked the mobile, broadband and TV customers who have supported the company over the years.

The company team grew from 13 in 2006 to over 100 at present.
