Dominica Dementia Foundation donates to PHARCS

Premium Home and Care Services (PHARCS), received a hamper and a care package from the Dominica Dementia Foundation in Morne Daniel on Sunday 18th December, 2016.

Marie-Therese Junkerre, owner of PHARCS received the donation on behalf of the home.

During their stay at PHARCS, members of the Dominica Dementia Foundation sang christmas carols and interacted with the clients at the home.

PHARCS is an adult care service which provides a unique combination of home and resident care to its clients.

Rianna Patterson, CEO of DDF said that the time spent at the home was an experience that she along with the members, will not forget. The clients are very friendly and the caregivers at the home are doing an exceptional job in caring for the elderly. “It warms my heart to see people so passionate about the care of the elderly. I am blessed to have such wonderful members on board as we move forward into the new year, spreading awareness of Dementia.”

Patterson, 19, launched the Dominica Dementia Foundation on the 2nd of September 2016 at the University of the West Indies open campus in Elmshall.

In 2017, the executive board will take up their roles; President Phael Lander, Vice President Dr. Davendra Sharma, Public Relations Officer Alisha Aexander, Secretary Crege Larond, Treasurer Esmeralda Joseph.

The foundation aims to raise awareness of Dementia, raise funds for families affected, provide emotional support to those who suffer from Dementia along with their families and caregivers, and also facilitate research towards Dementia.
