A Dominican diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is being formed and will be operational soon, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has been quoted as saying.

A report by the Global Banking and Finance Review said that the Prime Minister attended a seminar recently in the UAE hosted by the Dubai-based AAA Associates, an immigration services company which says it specializes in the most in-demand areas of immigration and citizenship by investment.

The report said he was accompanied by Emmanuel Nanthan, Head of Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Unit.

“High demand and interest from the UAE significantly contributed to the UAE-Dominica bilateral relations, which lead the Dominican government to establish Dominica Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Dominica Consulate General in Dubai,” Skerrit was quoted as saying. “The diplomatic mission is under the formation process and will be operational soon.”

The report went on to say the Prime Minister told participants of the seminar that investment and minimum taxation in Dominica, savings by immigrants are multiplied as compared to other countries.

“The country offers full residence status and dual citizenship, with the right to live and work in Dominica and there is no requirement to reside in Dominica before or after citizenship is granted,” he said.

According to the report, “this provision suits the UAE Investors and Businessmen as they can reside in UAE, continue with their business activities and still have the option of getting 2nd Citizenship and Strong Passports.”

Imran Farooq, Chief Executive Officer of AAA Associates, was quoted as saying, “Citizenship by Investment in Dominica is a way to avoid time-consuming paperwork and immigration red-tape when planning the 2nd citizenship. For example, a third-country national acquiring the citizenship opens up entire EU and over 100 countries to do business and live a secure and happy family life.”

Farooq thanked Skerrit and Nanthan for attending the seminar.

“We are honoured and thankful to the high officials from the Commonwealth of Dominica who have flown in the UAE to address AAA Associates’ seminar and personally meet the investors here. Their presence is a great endorsement to the efforts done by AAA Associates in attracting people to the Dominican citizenship and ensuring the programme has Dominican government backing with assurance of investment protection,” he said.

There have been no official statements from the government on this matter.

If it was not for this report published in an overseas magazine, we the people of Dominica would never have known of the visit of the Prime Minister of Dominica to U.A.E. The PM of Dominica only has disrespect for the people of Dominica.

With a guy who cannot express his thoughts neither on paper or verbally & is our P.M (thx to all the shouldering out of Bro .O in 2004 with the help of Nkomo et Al who is currently the head of the aforementioned UAE office. From leftist to DA’s # one capitalist one must wonder! Now ,I recall clearly Nantan carried Rosie’s briefcase back in the 70′ & 80’s like a bellboy has transformed into a money god. certainly one has to ask” So we come?” The joke goes full speed ahead amusingly as all the cafeteria commies etc have or are turning Blue amist the Green & Red combo we did not purchase at the political KFC

Mr Julian thought he was out of the loop when Tony said Goerge knew he knew he knew what was going on. I hope he will now say both the PM and Nanthan knew knew knew all about the corrupt practices. What qualification does Nanthan has. His articulation and speech presentation is deplorable. All i see in that trip was more corruption. The time is coming for explaining. Just a heads up Robby is now speaking to some people. FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

“report said he was accompanied by Emmanuel Nanthan, Head of Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Unit. ”

Yes,  it is all about the selling of Dominica diplomatic passports, and other travel documents!
Hence the salesmen and women makes their millions including the crooked born in the UAE. Everybody gets rich off Dominica, including Roosevelt Skerrit and Nanthan!

The people of Dominica gets nothing; people are going hungry. There is a photograph presently on DNO where a man lay on the ground shot dead, criminal or not; one need to focus on the dish with the spoon in it with something white in water.

I do not know what that is; nevertheless that might be what someone eats for a meal, that is the slap one eats in Dominica, while each time Roosevelt leaves Dominica to the UAE and other places hundreds of thousand are extracted from the treasury for travel and business expense!

Does any of that money along with a receipts brought  to show expenditures on the…

Significantly they did not give the date Skerrit and Nanthan attended that sale of passport mission. All they said is recently. Well, then we have to kind of do some calculation here to see if we can guess when they were out TOGETHER. Mano is from Possie and everybody knows when he is out. We missed him in Possie during the last week of July to early August and I believe PM was out of action around that time. During that time the big boys and girls of Ross University were also in Dominica and I understood they were trying to get a sit down with PM Skerrit but were unsuccessful. Mr. PM were you at that time busy selling passports while Ross was left spinning around the corners? PM we need you to come clean with us please

Every time skerrit an mano in a pic with some folks someone in ther going get arrested soon after. The last pic says alot. Skerrit is a masterful beggar right there. The guy body language says get your fu….. hands of me. You can tell skerrit is promising the world and the guy knows he is full of BS. Its lime a lil kid in a playground of older kids begging for a game or to join team and the older kid really does not want to. That picture is telling and sort of embarrassing to watch.

Boy all we does see is pictures and videos of our PM in ceremonies with strange people in far off lands. No explanation, no news conferences; nothing? No boy, we backwards for real. We are like children who totally rely on adults to take care of us and take any medicine they give us whether we like it or not without question.
I think this is a form of conceit to go foreign make all sorts of deals on our behalf and return and say nothing to us and the only way we find out is when months later a picture or video is leaked. I guess “it is none of our damn business” what he’s doing out there. “Go to hell, go to hell”.
I doubt these things would be allowed by the past generations even when people were more closed minded and illiterate. We are all failing Dominica…

We need to stop Skerrit from doing all this mischief to Dominica. It’s not benefiting the country at all but it certainly will benefit him and his friend Nathan. Skerrit needs to be stopped and he needs to be stopped now.

Why are you all complaining? During the last election, the Dominican people voted and gave him the mandate. It is you all’s fault. So take your licks.

We have Dominican embassy’s in these large countries, the question is, are these embassies being opened to facilitate the persons who received citizenship though the CBI?

The day is quickly coming when PM Skerrit will have to answer our questions. The day is quickly coming when Emmanuel Nanthan will have to answer our questions . The day is quickly coming when some run under the rocks and ask that the rocks fall on them but the rocks will not hear them. It won’t be easy for them and friends to behold. There will be weeping and whaling

“The diplomatic mission is under the formation process”

In 1948, at the request of the British Government, Sir Ernest Gower wrote a pamphlet titled “Plain Words”. In 1954 it was published in book form as “The Complete Plain Words” and has remained in print ever since. It serves to rid bureaucracy of wordiness and pomposity.

All government departments should have a copy.

Surely, Mr. Burnett, you do not truly have a difficulty understanding that statement by the Hon. Prime Minister, do you.

Come now! Do not be as petty as they are. They are a very petty bunch, always nit-picking and never dealing adequately with the issues that matter. Do not be like them. You lose credibility and it makes it easier for your readers to dismiss you.

Sorry but there is neither an embassy of Dominica in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the U.A.E., or a consulaten in Dubai, its commercial centre. If these are promisesI must view them in the light of similar statements made pertaining to our diplomatic présence in Kuala lumpur.

      • August 31, 2018

Thank you for your comment. My response is under the formation process.

In meantime, it does no harm (especially for our students) to highlight the need for good grammatical usage.

First Prime Minister I see going out to sell the country’s passport as a primary source for recurrent revenue. Is this the new normal?

How is it we don’t see the Prime Minister making missions to sell agricultural produce?… I guess too many people will be able to stand on their own in the Country.
Regardless of the risk of tarnishing Dominica’s good name by selling Citizenship to questionable characters, regardless of the lack of tangible material impact to every single local Dominican, the PM seems compelled to continue unflinchingly in the practice.
Many ppl will see criticism to the way the CBI is conducted as opposition to the program, but I assure you that Dominica can see real benefit in the short term from it, so i’m not against it but where is the impact on the ground? and what is the long term plan?..are we going to continue this forever? if not, what are we putting in place with that apparent easy money to avoid a flat fall in 5-10 years?..

Selling agricultural products is of no interest to him because there is nothing in it for him. You all have to open your eyes. Your PM is not an angel in fact quite the opposite. Once investigations will commence in his time as PM we will know the scale of his wrong doings. Trust me it won’t make good reading.
