Dominica’s national anthem

The Fresh Water Lake

Isle of beauty, isle of splendor,
Isle to all so sweet and fair,
All must surely gaze in wonder
At thy gifts so rich and rare.
Rivers, valleys, hills and mountains,
All these gifts we do extol.
Healthy land, so like all fountains,
Giving cheer that warms the soul.

Dominica, God hath blest thee
With a clime benign and bright,
Pastures green and flowers of beauty
Filling all with pure delight,
And a people strong and healthy,
Full of godly, rev’rent fear.
May we ever seek to praise Thee
For these gifts so rich and rare.

Come ye forward, sons and daughters
Of this gem beyond compare.
Strive for honour, sons and daughters,
Do the right, be firm, be fair.
Toil with hearts and hands and voices.
We must prosper! Sound the call,
In which everyone rejoices,
“All for Each and Each for All.”

A beautiful tune. I like the words, although not keen to see the reference to god in there.

We should educate all Dominicans both home and abroad on respecting our national symbols, particularly the flag and National Anthem. No matter what activity is on, never allow the flag to drag on the floor/ground and always at least stand when the National Anthem is sung or played.

listening to the music and singing along breaks my heart… that these words are not even respected by our leaders “Do the right, be firm, be fair”… yet there’s so much injustices committed against citizens cause of political affiliations… the justice system sucks and is not firm neither fair…. “Toil with hearts and hands and voices” reminds me of the fish mongers who were arrested and charged with a fee they can only dream of paying… yet they toiled.. with their heart hands and voices… and this is how they were treated… indeed we don’t live by the words of our national anthem… most of us don’t deserve to sing it

isn’t there a law… that whenever the national anthem is played… all should leave what they doing and stand to pay respects… and honestly even our national anthem sounds nicer than the u.s.a’s own….

These are such beautiful words –
It calls us to be be thankful, righteous, joyful, prosperous, industrious, humble, loving, generous, kind and caring for each other. In fact these are the characters of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

My prayer for all of us: Dominicans (home and abroad) that we live and demonstrate the fruit of the Holy Spirit in lives daily.

    Aiii Dominique!!!!
    Bonne Anniversaire!!!
May Jehovah God continue to bless you and may your children acknowledge Him in all our ways. And that our young men and women shine and prosper and our adults and Leaders live, lives that examples for our youths to follow in Jesus name!!!!

We must prosper! Sound the call!

People of Dominica. Remember that God gives His people Hope.

Looke at the words above again. It says “We must prosper” Let us receive God’s Hope with one mind, one accord. The hope that “we must prosper!”

Sound the call! In other words, let us speak our hope for prosperity! Sound the call! Let us remain in hope, because hope is from God, who does not disappoint us.

    GRRETINGS DOMINICANS;

OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM IS YET ANOTHER STARK REMINDER TO ALL DOMINICANS, THOSE AT HOME AND ABROAD, THAT WE MUST WORK WITH INTEGRITY, FAIRNESS, REVERENCE FOR GOD, COLLECTIVE WILL, AND INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL, COUPLED WITH UNITY TO MOVE OUR BELOVED LAND TO A BRIGHTER TOMORROW.

    BLESSINGS!!!

When one writes in cap unless it’s a noun it denotes anger, it would seem that you are an extremely angry person. As a Dominican living overseas, i long for things Dominican, but most of all would like to see my country prosper for the benefit for All.

Ahhh!! Such beautiful and powerful words.

I especially like the 3rd verse. Most times we do just the 1st, but perhaps we should begin using the 3rd a litle bit more. Come ye forward, Sons and Daughters!
