Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO) is urging members of the general public to store as much water as possible as the island is being affected by a trough system.

“DOWASCO advises the general public that due to the pending inclement weather several communities could experience low water pressure or interruptions in their water,” PRO of DOWASCO Edward Registe said.

He continued, “We further advised that some water systems will be shut down as a precautionary measure in preparation for the incoming weather system.”

Therefore he said the general public is advised to ensure that water is kept in storage for domestic use.

“DOWASCO will make every effort to maintain supply for as long as possible and in areas where there might be interruptions we will reinstate the supply at the soonest possible time following the passage of the weather system,” Registe stated.

The Dominica Meteorological Service said the trough system is expected to dump four to six inches of rain on the island.
