During September 2016, Milton resident Elizabeth Thomas will show photos of her homeland – Dominica – in the Wotiz Gallery at the Milton Public Library.

Thomas is a budding photographer and she made a trip back home to Dominica in the Caribbean after a 20-year hiatus. Thomas has taken a few photography classes at the Menino Art Center, and has also studied the subject online.

Filled with excitement, nervous and with anxious anticipation, she once again walked the streets she did as a child, reconnected with long lost relatives and explored the island she loves so much. During her two-week visit with her family – seeing the island with renewed eyes with her children on their first visit – she was able to capture about 2,000 photos. She will be sharing a small portion of these images with the public so that they can also see how special the “Nature Isle” is.

There will be a free and open reception for this display on Tuesday, September 13th from 6-8 p.m. in the Gallery on the first floor, so please stop by.

Thomas will raffle off one photograph at the reception, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the Friends of the Milton Public Library, of which she is a member. She will also have information about Dominica on hand and will provide local treats and snacks for sampling for all who attend the reception.

The Milton Public Library is located at 476 Canton Avenue, Milton, Massachusetts.

It has been well said ”One picture is worth a thousand words.”

    Thank you Elizabeth Thomas.

And thank you DNO for once again making part of the nature island known to the world.

This results in more people visiting Dominica where there are so many incredibly beautiful things to see.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist. :-P

This is a big achievement for a budding photographer. What is more poignant, is that she visited Dominica days before the passage of tropical Storm Erica. We wish her all the best with the exhibition and we’re looking forward to hearing much more from Liz.
