The United States, British and Australian embassies have warned their nationals in Indonesia that Islamic extremists may attack the Miss World pageant now taking place on the island of Bali in that country.
“The embassy has received information that extremist groups may be planning to disrupt the Miss World pageant being held in Bali from September 8 to 28 — potentially through violent means,” said the US embassy in Jakarta in a statement.
“Local Islamist vigilante groups have threatened to hold large-scale demonstrations to disrupt the Miss World pageant,” the British embassy said, adding “extremist groups may also be planning to attack the event”
Islamic extremists have carried out deadly attacks in Bali before. In 2002 Islamic militants carried out two suicide bombings in Bali killing 202 people, mostly foreigners.
240 people were injured in the attack.
Since the pageant began radical Muslims have taken to the streets, describing it as pornography.
This forced the government to move the entire pageant to Bali where only the early rounds were originally slated to take place.
Dominica is being represented at Miss World by Leslassa Armour-Shillingford.
Awwww, just watched a video of the top 16 and Leslassa was not one of them. So sad. She is still a winner because she was accepted to take part in the competition.

I see many Dominicans talking about a religion that they don’t really know or understand. Don’t mistake extremists fools for religious leaders. These are just people who use religion as an excuse because they know if they take that route then they can persuade simple minded people.
In fact the Catholic Church it self is at times extreme in its behaviour. How can the pope tell communities in Africa that are riddled with aids that contraception is against god’s will? That condoms are bad. Is that not also extreme? Does he not indirectly send people straight to meet their deaths also?

The organizers cannot tell me that they did not know Muslim views about exposure of women’s body parts,etc. I was shocked when I heard the pageant was going to be held there!! That’s a slap in the people’s face in their own yard.

Why would they decide to hold a beauty pageant in a Muslim country of all places? This decision has cost the Miss World organization millions of dollars. It is common knowledge that Indonesia takes strong stands on morality and their definition of morality is very black and white..no grey areas. Hope the Muslims remain calm and allow the pageant to proceed smoothly. Leslassa seems to be representing Dominica well but needs to stay safe.
Why do western writers think they have to be politically correct? They talk about “extremist” Muslims. When they use the adjective “extremists” they are implying that they are a minority fringe group of Muslims and not part of the “peaceful” mainstream of Islam.
They need to know that a Muslim is a Muslim. When they are in a country where they are a minority they practice their religion and let us practice ours. They rarely interfere in the lives of their fellow citizens because they know they would not get away with it. But in nations that are predominately Muslim it is a different matter. Yes, we hear of pastors who commit adultery and priest who are pedophiles. But when they do these things they are going contrary to the Bible and the rules of their churches. They don’t commit these sins BECAUSE they are Christians. Their religion is not what inspires and drives their wrong doing.
Is entirely different in Muslim lands. The cruelest most murderous Muslim dictators kill thousands in the name of Allah. Islam promises a paradise (heaven) filled with virgins to suicide bombers who kill non-Muslims. There is no way you can separate the religion from the violence. Many evangelical Christians do not approve of beauty pageants because we feel the way the contestants must dress is immodest. But it is not pornography. The Muslims don’t seem to know the difference. The organizers chose Indonesia to host this pageant because the pageant is called the “MISS WORLD PAGEANT”. Almost every Country has hosted and it is fair to the contestants that their Country get EQUAL RECOGNITION.

The Bible tells us that satan was a murderer from the beginning. It says that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. If a Muslim in a Muslim nation converts to Christianity the Muslims are suppose to kill him. They are killing Christian pastors and burning down their churches. They are raping and murdering Christian women in the streets while their children watch and burning down the homes of Christians.
The Lord Jesus told us to pray for our enemies. He said we are to bless those who hate us and do good to those who despitefully treat us.
The Apostle Paul, one of the great inspired teachers and writers of Christianity in the first century, told us if our enemy is hungry we are to give him somdething to eat. If he is thirsy we are to give him to drink.
We realize people do things contrary to the Word of God and break His commandments. Because we love them it grieves us when we see them doing wrong. But we do not stop loving them. We would never hurt them. If and when they are willing to change we will be there to help them across the troubled waters.

There are many more evidences in Islamic law. If a people due to their ignorance of Islam thus take their cultural baggage with them, how could Islam be blamed? Allah and our beloved prophet peace be upon him did not sanction these things. Should Christianity be blamed when some Christians do wrong things? When pastors commit adultery or priests commit pedophilia is it fair to place the label on the bible or Christianity?
