Facebook says it can’t guarantee social media is good for democracy

Facebook Inc warned on Monday that it could offer no assurance that social media was on balance good for democracy, but the company said it was trying what it could to stop alleged meddling in elections by Russia or anyone else.

The sharing of false or misleading headlines on social media has become a global issue, after accusations that Russia tried to influence votes in the United States, Britain and France. Moscow denies the allegations.

Facebook, the largest social network with more than 2 billion users, addressed social media’s role in democracy in blog posts from a Harvard University professor, Cass Sunstein, and from an employee working on the subject.

“I wish I could guarantee that the positives are destined to outweigh the negatives, but I can‘t,” Samidh Chakrabarti, a Facebook product manager, wrote in his post.

Hello and good afternoon my people. Facebook is the greatest company ever formed because you all gave them your information free and they used it to make billions. Mark Zuckerberg is a thief because he stole the company from his co developers when they were students at MIT in Boston. Facebook allows the CIA to used their platform to match people face to their name using facial recognition technology . What a trove of free accurate personal information you all provided to spy organizations like the CIA,Mossad,GCHQ and Five Eyes. Now America complain about Russin interferred with their election when America does the same thing and they spend millions of dollars and man power time doing the same thing. Just look at NGO’s that’s they send all over the world to collect information on other countries and people.

They are six of one half a dozen of the other. This is why I really do not pay attention to this America/Russia and vice versa saga. This is another reason why I do not have a Facebook account and have no interest in signing-on, on Facebook. I have better things to do with my time.
I have also heard stories through the local Media about some people who befriend others on Facebook. They have no idea if the people are residing in their part of the world. They spew out all their personal information and plans to strangers, not knowing who they are. You can visualize the end result of that.

Hello and good morning my people. Well three years ago I place a post on DNO where I said that base on my past work experience working for New York Telephone which is now Verizon that Apple was slowing down the operating system of the older Apple phone so people can purchase their latest phone. Last week Apple admitted that they was doing just that. Most people don’t understand how a phone call is made or how the Internet or Intranet works and they don’t know how or where the contact list, photos or places they last visited are stored. They also used Whatsapp which is owned by Facebook but every conversation that’s conducted over Whatsapp is spied on by the CIA/NSA and its stored in Pine Bluff Utah where the CIA have a storage facility which contained a number of super computers which can hold trillions of data communications. Also every computer that’s made in America and sold abroad have spy devices which send information to the CIA/NSA.

Tony, you are a wise guy. Your prediction came true. Do you erase your history when you sign-off a website? I do. However, I do not know if it is too late that these websites could store the information and email addresses, etc., aside from DNO or other Media.
I am not concerned about that because generally what I state should change their ways, even convert them. No police will be at my door.   Therefore, let them keep the information if they wish.
Incidentally, where I reside, as I go about my business, I usually see some police officers as they, too, go about theirs. I told one of them, jokingly, “Officer, if everyone were like me you would be out of a job.” He laughed. I always talk to them and feel safe when they are around, also in the malls
There are spies on the internet and we must be careful what we state. I know I am careful about that.
