FAREWELL FRANCINE: Baron-Royer will no longer be AG as of tomorrow

Baron-Royer

As of October 15, Attorney General (AG) Francine Baron-Royer will no longer hold that position.

Baron-Royer, who left her private practice to take up the post of AG in 2007 after an offer from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, has decided not to retain that position when her contract comes to an end tomorrow.

She said in a statement aired in this morning’s edition of DBS News, that her decision was not as a result of problems with cabinet members nor was it due pressures from anyone.

“My term of office comes to an end on the 15th of October and having fulfilled my promise to the prime minister I will be returning to my private practice,” she said.

“To those who have posed questions about whether I have had a falling out with this administration, or whether any pressure has been exerted on me not to continue as attorney general I wish to say this. I have had an excellent relationship with my cabinet colleagues and no such pressure has been exerted on me by anyone. I have expressed my commitment to continue to assist in any way possible,” the outgoing AG said.

Baron-Royer expressed gratitude to the prime minister for the opportunity to serve her country. She described the position as one with tremendous responsibility with great demand on one’s time.

“It has been challenging and gratifying to have been part of the development and advancement of Dominica,” she added.

The outgoing AG said that she is confident that she executed her duties “without fear or favour” and has given her professional advice in keeping with the principles of law and ethics of her profession.

She thanked all those who helped during the tenure of her profession.

By the way England is on a slippery pole to the bottomless pit, not like your small island where your people flee to the British Colony of Montserrat in other to become Brist and travel to my country, like it or not Britain can and will never be like your island, right now many of your people up here, do regret and is regretting about the decision taken by your first PM, which is Independent, we can and will always stand our own two feet, where do you people go for help?, regarding spelling and building sentences, i have read and seen articles coming from highly educated individuals where there are mistakes and question my level of education, in the UK one is never too old to learn. During election time in the UK and other developed countries, there will always be people in support of one party and others against, however when election is all over, whatsoever and whosoever have the majority to lead the country these individuals and supporters get together for the betterment and development of their country, you people like to dwell on politics, who supported who and you is not supporting who, I’ve got family members and friends who support other parties during our election, yes each one always tries their best to convince each other that their party is the best, however after all is said and done and election is over we all put our differences behind, moved forward, work together for the betterment of our beloved nation, the UK, why can’t you people do the same, as i said and will say again, this is why your small island will never prosper, instead of going forward it is sinking backward, you know, remember we have to agree to disagree and everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions, and another word to all you people hiding behind your pc, reveal your right identities, thank you, nothing to loose nothing to gain, just feeling said for my mates and their relatives from your island

The story is true, then? Francine it is no longer a RUMOUR? Amidst all untruths, Francine Baron-Royer has not lied in this case by saying that her term of office comes to an end on the 15th of October and as AG she has fulfilled her promise to the prime minister. All along, her statements and actions convinced Dominicans she was doing everything to please and protect her PM and other party political friends. Really Francine was not mandated or obliged to fulfill any promise to the country, to respect the Constitution or to speak on behalf of the majority of Dominicans. She herself revealed that she came to that office as AG. to FULFILL HER PROMISE TO THE PRIME MINISTER.

TRUST ME. Those issues like, RUBBISH BIN BOBOL FERTILIZER BOBOL and lack of transparency with Govt. contracts, ownership of VILLAS and so many others will have a domino effect on many of those ‘HIGH REPUTE PEOPLE’ especially in Public Office. They just can’t stomach the FACTS. The little more intelligent ones will escape themselves before it’s too late. The State with the help and willingness of the AG. should have set up a Commission of INQUIRY to inquire into those controversial issues that have been in the public domain for months now. Francine failed her own people miserably. For what nuh? Giving yourself a bad name and losing your credibility, for a few dollars more?

    @Gen:

The comments serve a useful purpose. I would keep them decent, not swearing or insulting others. Generally, these may not be allowed. In fact, never should be allowed.
All Websites have a reserved space for comments. They welcome the comments of people, pro and con.
We are all individuals, each possessing a different mentality, understanding and view point.
Some Websites do take into account the views of their users and readers which may serve their purpose.
Consider too that your government and/or its watch dogs read them. No exception doctors, lawyers, judges and employers.
I heard a Canadian MP said that he read the blogs. I will especially state those of the Canadian and U.S. Media Websites. They will know the views of people some of which may assist them in their portfolio.
There is a reason for the comment section. Think about that. There is more to it than meets the eye.

As the popular saying goes, ‘Francine take in front before in front take her.’ There are too many cases of criminal, illegal actions crippling Dominica. Francine has many of those issues to answer to as former AG She owes the people of Dominica serious explanations. Francine must be forced to be accountable to the people on those controversial matters. She was being paid by the taxpayers of this country. She cannot just now leave Office as AG. with all those immoral, irresponsible things that took place under her watch. PUBLIC REPENTANCE or appropriate legal action should be demanded. It cannot be business as usual. Francine has allowed her political affiliations to predominate her spiritual upbringing. In the eyes of the public she cannot be trusted, and her credibility will remain at stake for a long time. Many of our ‘PROFESSIONALS’ lawyers, doctors, etc. etc. are allowing themselves to be mesmerized, manipulated, fooled for a few dollars more, and for SELFISH motives.

Fairwell Francine. Your dad is happy so too are ur husband and brothers. We were praying for you because we knew for a fact the icon, Mr. Baron did not teach his children to LIE and condone what is wrong. You were aching inside but the position you held forced you to support those liers and do like them. Do not worry my dear, just go down on your knees and ask for forgiveness and in doing so stretch out your tongue so that it can be cleaned. Then, in your own time, Call Matt so we can play you that famous speech. ( The time has come)

I have come to realize that Valda Bruno really does use her real name otherwise she would have been refuting the comments made by some people.
However,we should all realize that everyone is entitled to an opinion and therefore,we should not make those degrading remarks about someone just because we have differing views.
Also, maybe Valda should probably be mindful of what she posts, thus preventing such disgusting/disparaging remarks from being made about her.
DNO,I strongly believe that you should stream postings with any words/comments that are “more that distasteful” when they are used.

So who is going to replace this young AG?

Somehow I see this as a strategy to buy time for the case that the UWP has in court with the government. A new AG will surely have to get him/her self familiar with all the outstanding matters. This will be at least 6 months!!!!!!!!!!

On the other hand it is the first time a story like that did not get leaked before the scheduled time!!!

That shows some good professionalism on the outgoing AG’s part knowing that her father and brother doh like Skerrit ah tall, ah tall again…

All the same I must say congratulations to the young lady AG. You piloted many new pieces of legislation some of which I would like to highlight:

    A revised money services bill

An updated Customs bill to take care of online processing of clearing goods at the port

A legal professions bill to regulate lawyers and Attorneys

Any one of these bill could have taken as much as two years to complete, yet, you were successful in bringing these three and a few others within three years.

On behalf of Dominica I say thank you for your services to our Country.

Do you really think that she is not capable of a making a decision that is best for her and her family.

She said the job is demanding -late meetings/readings/planning defense/prosecution…etc.

She has young children and maybe wants to really spend time with them.

Good riddance Lady….Though you were suppose to be the chief law office of the Govt.,the fact of the matter is, you failed to realize the Govt.,is elected by the People…Therefore, in your capacity as AG,you were suppose to represent and protect the interest of the People of Dominica, and Dominica as well…Have you satisfactorily done that?…I don’t think you can answer .”yes”,with a straight face…

As with everything else, the People of this Country are always last.According to your statement, you’ve “fulfilled your promise to the PM”. Not the People of Dominica.
It’s always “party” and party politics first…Well, not good enough. In my humble opinion, you failed miserably..
What will your legacy be?.What can you honest say that you’ve done as AG,for the People of Dominca,or even Dominica itself?..How,and when, did you ever protect the interest of Dominica or the People of this Country?.

What are the “development and advancement” you referring to,and what were your contributions?.
History, will not be kind to you….On many occasions, you looked clueless. The AG,is a very coveted position,..One does not simply walk away.

its a matter of conscience.. you are one that is fed up with the lies and deception, you are well aware of the most high is seeing you..
Dominica is becoming a failed state of lawlessness and you at the helm of legal matters its too much.. too much improvisation, or everyone can pretend like Tony A, Parry and Charles S, th greatest of all recyclers..
by doing this you are a woman of integrity… but now the challenge is to denounce the evil that is going on in the country becuase you are still implicated.

Please do not insult our intelligence. We know there is more to it. We would appreciate if you would just admit that there was too much pressure in this position. We can understand. Don’t tell us you just decided to leave! Eh Eh! Does not sound right. It is well within your rights to leave but we know it was just too much pressure!!

This AG departs without any construtive legacy. She will be most remembered for her partisanship and her poor judgement on the by electtions related to the UWP boycott.
Nevertheless, we thank her for her contribution to Dominica and hope all the best for her in her private practice and in life in general.
