Dominican fathers are being urged to recognize the role they play in the family structure.

President of the Dominica National Council on Women Josephine Dublin Prince says in a statement on the occasion of Father’s Day today that fathers need to be good role models, provide the necessary support in the household and must play an important role in the lives of their children.

She also pointed out that every child needs to know who his or her father is.

“Every child deserves the right to know who his or her biological father is however this is not always the case,” she said.

The DNWC applauds all the fathers who have “taken up their role and responsibility as a father seriously. We need to honor and recognize such fathers,” Dublin-Prince said.
