Fire officials at the St. Joseph station are still trying to determine whether a massive bush fire in Tarreau last night was intentional or accidental.

At about 10 p.m several officers were vigorously trying to put out the fire that left a huge section of the hillside in that community burnt down.

“We don’t know what caused the fire. We are not sure if it was intentional or accidental. We responded to the call at around 10 pm,” one fire officer explained.

The fire department is also calling on the public to be mindful when igniting bush fires.

No one was hurt in the incident and so far there are no reports of damage.

I would be afraid to leave on some of the hills on the west coast. There are always fires on the hills and so many people making houses there….and the grass lies all around the houses ..awa..not me. I would be so scared….

I dont think it was intentional though… Cuz I could stay in Jimmit and see the fire… it started wayyy before 10.. it was like after 4 mins to 5 and I saw fire on the other side of the mountain.. apparently it got worse.

This fire sounds suspicious. The Police Department must investigate if it is someone’s property and what was on growing on that property that it was ignited. Do your homework Police Department!

You made me laugh. Why would someone ignite a fire in the evening? There was some motive.

I would hate to think that the people from Tarreau only called the Fire Service at that time. That fire was burning since about 2:30pm and even more so about 6:3opm when it was right over the village.
Thank God no one was hurt.
