Nature Island Paper Products, Inc. is 100% Dominican owned and the Managing Director Mr. Severin McKenzie of McKenzie Architectural and Construction Services, Inc. (MAC Services, Inc.) is one of Dominica’s and the Caribbean’s leading architects.

“We are pretty excited about the factory, for it is the first of its kind in Dominica, said Mr. Severin McKenzie, Managing Director of NIPP Inc.   “As we seek to enter into the export market, we have adopted “The Nature Island” labeling theme for our products. We are making our packaging as attractive as possible to create a brand name when we launch in the regional market, also when Dominicans come home they can take some of our products back with them and they will be able to say “this was made in Dominica”.

NIPP is a welcome addition to Dominica’s undeveloped manufacturing sector that is entirely made up of the Dominica Coconuts Products, controlled by Colgate-Palmolive; water bottlers; a Barbados-owned paint company; and a few home industries producing some leather work and straw products. The Invest Dominica Authority, a government institution, provided NIPP Inc. with the usual incentives and was very helpful with the application process.

The most significant contribution of this new enterprise to the Dominican economy is the reduction of foreign exchange out of Dominica and the creation of jobs. With the exportation of its products, NIPP Inc. expects to bring in foreign exchange into the island.

NIPP Inc. is an environmental conscious company and all products made by the company come under the “clean and green” label.  The “clean and green” label ensures consumers that the products they are buying are high in quality and is eco-friendly.

    @Cesare Bonventre:
    I try to understand your comment without success. Are you suggesting that our operations will pollute our Waters or cause havoc on the environment?
    If so you are mistaken, the large pulping companies already do the work all we do is convert.

    Mr. McKenzie, you have done well and continue to do so. Your contributions to the development of your country and your drive to move your fellow countrymen out of naiivety and into progress makes you and a few good men like yourself stand out. I wish you the grace of God to carry through with your plans. God bless!

    Pulp and paper is the third largest industrial polluter to air, water, and land in both Canada and the United States, and releases well over 100 million kg of toxic pollution each year

    Worldwide, the pulp and paper industry is the fifth largest consumer of energy, accounting for four percent of all the world’s energy use. The pulp and paper industry uses more water to produce a ton of product than any other industry

    Chlorine and compounds of chlorine are used in the bleaching of wood pulp, especially chemical pulps produced by the kraft process or sulfite process. Plants using elemental chlorine produced significant quantities of dioxins.[7] Dioxins are persistent organic pollutants that are generally recognized among the most toxic human-released pollutants in existence.

    Do you have any idea how deadly Dioxins are?

    As a physician I can tell you! They are amphipathic – meaning they can cross the skin and cell wall barrier causing cancers & immune dysfunction

    And being so amphipathic, they will get into the ground water system and pollute everything!

    Sulfur dioxide is of particular concern because it is water soluble and is a major cause of acid rain.

    They want it on Dominica so they can have access to all the water

    And after they ruin Dominica, they can move on like a locust to some other venue

    Great news for my lovely Dominica, we need many more Dominicans like Mr Mc kenzie to take up such iniciatives.There are many who have the financial resources who can embark on similar ventures, especially in food processing, we have the raw materials available right here. Many of the business owners here have the capacity to branch out into other services or manufacturing. I am a student in Venezuela and I am amazed by the different products that are made from local produce which we also have in Dominica. From coconuts, cassava, banana, plantains etc. just name it and we have it. We have great potential my people.The world is going through a food shortage and we need to take advantage of that market. Viva Dominica, Dios te bendiga!!
