Flooding at Douglas Charles Airport

A scene at the airport

The Douglas Charles Airport located in Melville Hall is presently being flooded as inclement weather affects Dominica.

Reports indicate that the Melville Hall River has breached its banks and flooding sections of the roadway.

The airport was severely damaged by flooding during the passage of Tropical Storm Erika in August 2015.

The facility was again flooded in March 2016.

Hello and good afternoon my people. Well this flooding wasn’t caused because of rain from a hurricane so what will happen when a hurricane pass. I have said that we need to dredge the river about twenty feet deep from the sea to about a half mile from the airport and we must open the bank across from the airport. We also need a big drain on the other side of the runway otherwise mud from the hill will flood the runway. Where are the Civil Engineers the Government has on staff to provide advice to alleviate this problem .

As a temporary measure the boulders and wall seem to be working, as you can see the airport isn’t flooded.

I am tellin my people to start building boats. I think they should start teaching that in school because we are going back in time. My grandfather would be a good instructor. Dominicans buy your rubber shoes once more the colourful ones. Oh and the donkeys also..

The government like shortcut so they will get the balance of the money. Give public works the jobs in Dominica. The people has lived in the country, know the weather patterns, knows every stream becomes a raging river when it rains. Why do they think overseas people can only do things.
The bailey bridge became the permanent bridge so toilet is given instead of building a permanent bridge.
Where is all that CBI money. I still want an acount of that money and all the accounts that comes with it.

While we come to the conclusion that the inclement weather is God’s work the reality is what is happening at Melville Hall is the work of evil men. How can you change God’s plan for the
smooth flow of the river, into your own selfish plan,to gain cheep political points? This will not work. The worse is yet to come,as long as Satan is at the helm.

Skerrit go address the nation and tell them in your usual stuttering, inarticulate style is Lennox Linton that do that…Send for CARICOM investigators Skerrit, because i saw a stationary truck with speakers and buckets at Melvillehall, just moments before the flooding.

I would tell Blackmoore or Blanchard I would ask Skeritt to declare Sunday 19th March a national day of prayer. God isn’t happy about the happenings in Dominica. Maybe he has turned his back on the country.

When they were alive they stretched out their hands for help and all you bite them and drove them to their grave before time and now you naming airport after them? Left to the opposition they would be still alive but is the problems you gave that drove them out! They don’t want you Roosevelt Skerrit, to name anything after them except a funeral home or grave yard. You too hypocrite boy.

    • March 12, 2017

Which Opposition party form the next Government should change around the airport name ASAP, it was something Skerrit did that had no validity to it.

A government without vision. So many years to build a new airport, still wasting millions. On an airport that should be decommissioned.

And the facility will continue to flood throughout 2017. Idiots indeed you red fools out there are when you say that we don’t need relocating and upgrading this garbage airport. Closure now, closure earlier this week? Hmmm, seems quite interesting. Shut it down. We’ll happily ride the fairy to guada and take a jet from there. Isn’t that the new norm? But we need not worry. Our elegant leader, the great and wise political tactician, the pm whose brains has been seasoned within the tabernacle of God with unmatched intelligence, the arrogant man who thinks that he is the way the truth and the light and anyone who stands in his way will be incorrectly jailed, prince of darkness Mr r. Dr. Skeritt will continue to dump the millions into this dead end. The true might and wisdom of labor and their people. Let’s see how quickly the American family to conduct their studies now. Lol!!

Is that the Airport that the GOD of Dominica been spending millions and even naming it after his predecessors Douglas and Charles? What a shame and waste of tax payers money!!! The blind party hacks call it prudent management but the wise sees it as mismanagement of the countries economy.
What a shame. God bless the wise!!!! A country with very little economic , limited resources yet we spend so much yet not meeting our objective. One does not to have to be an Engineer to see that the airport is laying in a flood plain and the bend in the river upstream is heading straight into the terminal. Why don’t skerrit and his technical team see just how they can skew this section or widen this section to minimize the flood. They embarked on placing boulders along the river wall…what a waste!! Displacing one boulder is even for all to be carried into the sea. Erika came & throw the top of the wall because of poor construction practice yet once again they did the same thing. we don’t…

    March 11, 2017

From the time Skerrit named his airport after Rosie & Pierro, the airport is constantly flooding and ever so often closed. One would have to be totally blind to not see that the two deceased Honorable PM’s are completely upset that the hypocrite Skerrit, who made their political lives miserable according to Tony Astaphan, and make it worse to see him put out a public celebration at the airport when he named it after them. It is no doubt their humble spirit crying foul on Skerrit’s action and what he has brought Dominica to. It is their way of saying when we were alive you did not show us any love and now we were helped out you showing love? We upset and in tears Skerrit

The work of the worlds greatest set of idiots refusing to focus on the development of an alternative site for an airport for the past 17 years despite the fact that potential sites were already identified by previous governments. How sad!!!
