As part of their Lenten observance of reaching out to the poor and disadvantaged among us, members of the Friendship Crew visited the House of Hope in Delices on Sunday March 18th.
The purpose of the meeting was to follow-up on an earlier promise that the group made to the management of this Christian-led charity project.
The group met with all of the home’s six residents, the staff and some members of the management as well as a Peace Corps Volunteer attached to the facility.
according to the group, it was a most rewarding experience for members of the Friendship Crew. In speaking to the staff and management, chairman of the Friendship Crew, Ronald Charles commended the staff for their selfless, unswerving efforts at caring for the disadvantaged ones. He told them that theirs was a labour of Christian love and service to humanity and that their efforts, particularly the staff cannot be measured in terms of their pay. He reminded them that there is a greater reward beyond monetary terms for such work.
There was much interaction between the inmates, the staff and the management personnel who were on hand to receive the visitors.
In December last year the Friendship Crew provided a Christmas hamper to the facility which helped to bring the joys of the season to those who live there.
House of Hope gives 24-hour care to persons suffering from severe physical and mental disabilities.
