Gov’t holds town hall meetings on new housing project for east

The government will be holding a series of town hall meetings to discuss a new housing project for the east coast.

On Friday afternoon meetings will be held in Delice and Riviere Cyrique to talk about the project.

“We are looking to build in four constituencies, that is to say, La Plaine, Morne Jaune/Riviere Cyrique, the Kalinago Territory and Castle Bruce about 400 units under this particular program,” Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit said. “In addition to that we will be building individual homes, 200 of those in those four communities.”

He explained that in total about 600 homes will be constructed.

“So today really is the opportunity to share with those residents because this part of the country has been dramatically affected and we believe we need to give them first priority,” he said.

The Prime Minister said after Easter he, along with members of Cabinet and officials from the housing ministry, will be visiting other communities to talk about housing projects with residents.

“We will be going to Coulibistrie where we will be unveiling the housing plans to relocate a number of families who have to be relocated because of the dangers which the river poses to them,” he stated.

According to this pic that’s alot of people. But one think I hope the govt should just come and have town hall meetings but keep there promises and do as they are telling us the electorate and do t stay when is election because they came before election last time say all what they were going to do a few e.g the development of the airport , the Roseau improvement and up to now NOTHING. SO A PROMISE IS A DEBT TO A FOOL.

To force your ideas and plans on people without first getting their views is being presumptuous. You just should not assume what is best for them. Everyone has ideas, even a fool has good ideas at times. The townhouses/apartment buildings are of a bygone era. These usually become ‘run down’ due to lack of proper maintenance, crime and rodent infested, the area often turns to a real concrete jungle. New and better houses, yes, relocation if absolutely necessary but the recipients must be part of the conversation before the final decisions are made. Why impose your ideas on me without my input when they are going to significantly impact me for the remainder of my life? Let’s have full ventilation and consultations of plans by any public entity before reaching a final decision.

Using tax payers’ monies, in effect the state’s revenue, to campaign/champion Labour Party government’s cause. Disbursement of such initiatives should derive from a National Strategic Development Plan (SDP) for the Housing sector. These SDPs should be formulated and developed through Parliamentary deliberations in the House of Assembly. It’s evil the way in which the DLP government is using the state’s revenue to influence people for political gain.

This is a form of corruption, and is illegal as such.

“In addition…we will be building individual homes.”

Interesting that this component has been added since the original announcement. Perhaps the government takes some heed of DNO comments!

You love your PM? Well vote for him.
Let them continue to talk about parrot still!
Those that spreading white powder, those that just walk around town with a bottle of Guinness in their hand and always on face book, those we don’t hear at all, those that claim to be bold face no face only there to criticize and destroy, those on the radio only spewing negative vibes, those that pretend that they are not affiliated to red, green or blue yet the blood that runs in their vein is blue. Those that call themselves concern citizens instigating violence. Those that say if they don’t get electoral reform what they will do; but they don’t realize bad is on sale for everyone. Let them continue. While that is happening… Labor working.
