town hallThe second in a series of town hall meetings to discuss the 2015/2016 National Budget moves to the Kalinago Territory.

The meeting is to be held at the Salybia Primary School on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 7:00pm.

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit presented the 2015/ 2016 National Budget on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the Ninth Parliament. The Budget totalling some five hundred and twenty-five million, nine hundred and fifty-nine thousand, nine hundred and fifty-eight dollars ($525,959,958.00) was unanimously approved by the House.

In keeping with Dominica Labour Party Government’s policy of inclusion, Cabinet made a decision to bring the discussion on the budget directly to the public. The budget highlighted Dominica’s continued economic achievements over the past years as well as the plans and projects to be implemented during this fiscal year.

Presentations will be made by Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, MP for the Kalinago Territory, Casius Darroux; Minister for Commerce, Enterprise and Small Business Development, Roselyn Paul and Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Johnson Drigo.

The first town hall meeting was held at the Mahaut Community Centre on Thursday, August 6, 2015. Hundreds gathered to hear presentation from Prime Minister Skerrit, Minister for Health and Environment – Honourable Dr. Kenneth Darroux, Minister for Public Works and Ports – Honourable Ian Pinard and Parliamentary Representative for the Mahaut Constituency and Minister for Justice, Immigration and National Security – Honourable Rayburn Blackmoore.

Members of the audience got a chance to ask questions and interact with members of Cabinet.

The meetings are being held under the theme “Keeping it Real – in the community”.
