Green bemoans state of White River Bridge

The White River in Delices

The government’s being urged to pay urgent attention to what’s being described as a crucially important bridge – the one over the White River in Delices.

Former La Plaine MP Ron Green says the government should act promptly to repair or replace the bridge which he says has “severely corroded and is further deteriorating”.

He said in a statement that the authorities had ignored past pleas to assess the deteriorating White River bridge and take rehabilitative action.

The former parliamentarian and former United Workers Party leader says the bridge is very important to farmers, the people of Delices and Petite Savanne, and “of course Dominica’s top eco-tourism hotel, the well-known Jungle Bay,”.

According to Green the people who use the bridge have mobilized to “fix the dangerous potholes and surface works on the Delices-Petite Savanne Road itself”.

He considers that a signal to the government to “step up, access and or use whatever funds are available to do the necessary work immediately”.

Does anyone understand the term public figure? Some may not agree with me that Ron is a public figure but one cannot argue with the response his comment has generated. If I had made that statement it would not have receive the attention Ron’s received. Who knows, this might lead to the bridge being repaired.

Thank You Mr Green for raising such a genuine concern on the behalf of the People of the South East.

It was under your UWP government that this bridge was built providing access from Delices to Petite Savanne and further opening the country. Because of the road we had the construction of one of the most awarded hotels in the Caribbean, Jungle Bay Resorts.

The sulphur and the sea salt are having a negative effect on the bridge and Hon Green is simply calling on the Government to address the situation. Kudos to you Hon Green. Continue to represent the interest of the people of the South East

Come on man! The deterioration of the structure has little to do with its age. The main cause of the deterioration is the service environment and other construction materials performance criterias. The bridge is situated on the Atlantic side where saltspray and other factors that influence the degradation are more prevalent. STOP playing politics or shut your boca if you dont know the issues. What is causing you all to be so politically blind? WOW!!

DNO: “According to Green the people who use the bridge have mobilized to ‘fix the dangerous potholes and surface works on the Delices-Petite Savanne Road itself’.”

Be patient, Mr. Green. Recently, Mr. Blackmore did state that the road in question is scheduled for major attention.

Corrosion has taken over that bridge which leaves its structural integrity in question. Just walk down by the river side and look at the underside and side beams. I cringe everytime I drive on it I cringe in fear it may collapse. But, c’est lavie en Dominique!

Hi, DNO why don’t you show the bridge so we can see the condition. Mr Green why don’t you worry about the bridge in Laplaine. I was there in 2011 & 2012 and a little rain fall but we could not cross the bridge because the river over flow. The broken tree branches clogged the waterway. The bridge in Laplaine and Rosalie need to be raised.

the persons commenting thus far need to be more patriotic and less personal. mr green was in power 15 years ago in that time the bridge has detiorated enormously. now if he say nothing you would say he not representing and when he speaks its still negativity. if you care about your community put your differences aside and support the call for repairs to be made cause it might just be your $%* dat fall in d river

      well ron

it took the UWP and Ron Green to build the bridge and road and it certainly looks like it will that the same to repair it.

the current parl rep is not doing a thing in the constituency. all he doing is drive in his expensive vehicl and u not hearing him saying a word on behalf of the people who voted him in office. Ron Green continues to speak for his people. As for you Anonymous…he continues to see and will always see. Take a drive from La Plaine to Delices and see the state of our roads, drive further down to Delices and let your eyes see what the people of the south east has to travel on and then let us know. For those of us who commute to and from town daily the road is nothing easy, road with pot holes, water project finish so long in delices and up to now the roads cannot be repaired, grass growing tall on the road side.

so let Ron Green talk for the people.
