The Grenada Football Association collected $4368.62 at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifier match on Friday to aid in relief efforts for Dominica.

President of the Grenada Football Association, Cheney Joseph, saw it as an imperative opportunity to use the staging of the World Cup qualifier match as an avenue to raise funds for Dominica.

“Grenada knows exactly what it was like being in such a position and we at the Association knew that the match would be an excellent avenue to contribute to such an important cause,” expressed Joseph.

The island of Dominica which was affect by Tropical Storm Erica last month continues to grapple with the damage.

Acting General Secretary of the Association, Malaika Church, thanked the Grenadian public for their contributions.

“The Association understands the financial situation many persons are under but we were very appreciative to see so many people contributing. Four thousand three hundred and sixty –eight dollars and sixty two cents ($4368.62) was collected at the match on Friday” said Church.

The Association is expected to release the funds to the Dominica Football Association President, Glen Etienne later in the week.
