Hartley Adams says good bye to the Ministry of Education

Hartley Adams (left), receives plaque from Deputy Chief Education Officer, Dr. Blaize

The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development on Friday bid farewell to retired educator Hartley Adams.

Adams retired from the public service on November 12th, after thirty-eight (38) years spent as a teacher, principal, policy & planning officer and education officer for the southern, western and northern districts.

At the time of his retirement, Adams was the Education Officer (North) and his colleagues remember him as a “straight-shooter” who was unconventional but very passionate about education.

At a ceremony attended by staff of the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, Asst. Chief Education Officer Dr. Jeffrey Blaize said Adams leaves with a “wealth of experience and knowledge in working with educators, teachers, and principals.”

“Thank you for your long service and for working with our schools over so many years” Blaize said.

Adams told the gathering he “had a wonderful life in education,” and was available to continue serving the Ministry of Education if called upon to share his expertise.

The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development extends congratulations to Mr. Adams on his retirement.

not often people can say that they are proud of their dad but i am. this man was always there for his children and other people children. i can count at least 50 students that were brought home and treated nicely by that man when i was younger. feed and send to school. i think they should remember him better.

Mr Adams is a true soldier of education who fought fearlessly in the trenches where others feared to thread. A man of resolute determination and testicular fortitude. He defended his students especially against male teacher sexual advances. He was prepared to move out of the box to ensure success for his students. Mr Adams is well deserving of the highest recognition for his sterling contribution to national development – human resource training.

May his retirement be rewarding. Mr Adams has alot of occupational life left. If I know Mr Adams well, he will be willing to continue to be of service in a management position. CONGRATULATIONS SIR.

nobody is perfect…..but we as teachers could rrust Mr.Adams words better than that of Blaize and Steve Hycintha. When Blaize tell you to run you better sit down harder where you are. …..

Congrats to Mr. Adams!! He is one who would always encourage you when it comes to education! He did not keep it all to himself but asks others to persevere in the teaching profession. He saw so much potential in me that I could not see in myself!! Thank you Mr. Adams!! ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT!!

This so called Ministry of Education is just putting on a show…. They look at teachers as beggars whom they can twist and turn like a door knob, while they are in their air conditioned offices lazy, and dunce doing nothing.
Well done Mr Adams, you have served your country in the field of education. Now that you have thrown in the white towel, i wish you enjoy your retirement fully.

You know, I am not impressed with your comment because you see the ‘Ministry of Education’ is every one including teachers. We all form part of the ministry and you must not forget that every officer in another post now not in a classroom, was once a teacher in the classroom like everyone else. Too many times we teachers are not pulling our weight, yes the pay is small but many of us like handouts and expect gold on a platter. If you are not called to the profession leave it but do not blame others for our faults. We all contribute to the education system in Dominica and I suspect is lazy people like you who are bitter. If you can do better then get qualified and apply for the job of Dr Blaize or Mr Hyacinth. Can you do better?????

Congrats Mr Adams. God bless you.

Confratulations Mr. Adams, you did well. Sad to say, people like Dr. Blaize and the present Chief Hyacinth are mostly responsible for the sorry state of education in this country. Their decisions stink to say the least. One knew where he or she stood with adams. Admin, it might be a bit harsh, but do not delete my comments.
