iPads allegedly go missing at La Plaine Police Station

Over two-dozen iPads, belonging to the Jones Beaupierre Primary School in La Plaine, have allegedly gone missing at the La Plaine Police Station, a source in the Ministry of Education has revealed to Dominica News Online.

The school received a total of 52 iPads in early July 2014, from the Brilla Bank Corporation, a newcomer to corporate citizenship in Dominica.

They were then placed at the La Plaine Police Station for safe keeping over the summer, the source who has intimate knowledge of the matter told DNO.

According to the source “more than two dozen” tablets disappeared a week before school closed for the summer.

The source told DNO that Minister of Education and Parliamentary Representative for the La Plaine constituency, Petter Saint Jean, is aware of the situation.

When DNO contacted Saint Jean, he said he would not comment on the matter, stating that it is to be dealt with by the police.

DNO made several calls to the La Plaine Police Station, however, the phone rang without an answer.

The source expressed disappointment that the valuables vanished despite being placed in what was considered a secure location.

“They realized that our school was not safe enough for them, and we put it where there is an Inspector, and Corporal, and so many Constables,” the source remarked.

The source stated the iPads were being very well utilized.

“They were using them very well…” the source divulged. “According to what we teach, we use those iPads, so each child has one to help them improve their reading skills.”

The source stated that the Ministry of Education was informed of the situation, and investigations are ongoing.

“We informed the Ministry of Education…” she said. “[The Police] are trying to find out how they disappeared, because we put it there for safe-keeping.”

DNO also tried contacting the principal of the school but has been unsuccessful.

I have always said that the police officers in Dominica are corrupted ,one of them should be responsible ,it not it must be the little invitees that they invite back and forth to eat ,drink and have sex all day and night…more bad news will come concerning police officers

Up in the East things disappearing. In the North East thousands of US dollars disappeared under the watch of the police; it was allegedly dumped in a waste paper bill. in Laplaine school children schools funds disappeared police investigating ; in police headquarters cars belonging to the State for protocol transport all tires flattened right there within a secured police compound no arrest no investigation. Files in a child molestation case leaked out to social media; Guns from police amry ends up on the streets. so what is so surprising about tablets disappearing in a police station. Court exhibits including drugs and money are tampered with in police station. So nothing surprises me anymore.

It is strange that the IPads disappeared from the Police Station. How is that possible? Who could have them? Was the Police Station closed at that time?
The last place anyone would think of stealing from is a Police Station. This is a bad reflection on the Police Officers. How many of them work there and at a time?
The officers who were on duty should be transferred or suspended. I hope they are not the ones who will conduct an investigation on themselves.
Remember the Registry/Court keys which disappeared from the Roseau Police Station?
This informs nationals that those Police Stations are unsafe to store anything. This should not be. They should be trustworthy places. The officers will have to give an account for those IPads.
Whoever stole them, who will they sell them to and who will purchase them?
God knows who stole them. It is a bad mark on whoever stole them.

Wait..so the parlep who is also the minister of education will nt comment. Can’t get the principal of the school. Phone ringing out at police station (isn’t somebody always supposed to be there to mend phone in case of an emergency?) And the ‘police’ r investigating a theft of property that was put in their care particularly for safe keeping? Did civilians have access to a ‘safe’ place in that police station? I wld think it’s only the police who wld have access right? Ummmmm. …yeaaaa. let’s c how that one plays out cuz I smell a rat

:?: Is this some sort of joke now Dominica? The things i see and hear coming from the nature isle of a very small population on a daily is appalling.

I certainly hope the police did not seal them because they are expected to be arresting civilians for theft.

That’s far from being a good example for youngsters with hopes towards becoming police officers.

Dominica only need 2 police stations pal, we don’t money to support how many so each constituency have. How big you think Dominica is? The police station should be broken down and there resources allocated to either Portsmouth or Roseau.

the first part ok, you can learn without the Ipad, maybe they should have invested in stationary desktop systems. The second part, is dumb. Every village in my opinion should have a station or outpost.

Tell us more it sounds impossible but true. All the staff located at the Police station must be on transfer list by now, some demoted and others back to the training school. All these occur because the Police wears uniform only in court matters. No patrol duties in and around the village. Too many visitors like a guest house. what a let down for the Dominica police force. I hope they are never recovered or found it is too embarrassing.

Welcome to Dominica? Like Dominica is the worst place on earth? Dominica will never prosper as long as nothing positive is reinforced and everything negative is praised and given the spotlight. I never see a bunch of unpatriotic people. They will go abroad and wave another country flag while the people from the same country criticizing Dominica. But when Trump put all you asses outside people will suddenly remember they have somewhere to call home and a family they never communicated with in twenty years.
