Kiwanis Club donates to primary schools

Presentation of school supplies

On Tuesday 29th June 2010, the Kiwanis Club of Waitukubuli, together with its sister club from the island of Martinique, the Kiwanis Club of Schoelcher made a presentation of stationery and school supplies to the Newton Primary School and the Roseau Primary School.

Mr. Paul Toussaint, who represented the Kiwanis Club of Schoelcher,  explained  to the eager and attentive primary  school students that the supplies had been donated by business houses on the island of Martinique. The supplies, which were presented at a brief ceremony held at the Roseau Primary School, included glue, pencils, exercise books, pens, sharpeners and school bags.

They were received by Mr. Jerry Coipel, Principal of the Newton Primary School and Ms. Joyce Celestine, Deputy Principal of the Roseau Primary School.

The donation of school supplies was yet another gesture by the Kiwanis Club toward the development of the nation’s youth. The Club held a Secondary Schools Essay competition in November 2009 and in April 2010, applied a fresh coat of paint to the classrooms of the Dominica Community High School.
