Last weekend, the Kiwanis Club of Roseau once again lent a much needed hand in transporting the shut-ins of the St. Alphonsus Parish Community to a special church service in their honour at the Goodwill Parish Hall.
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Roseau came out in numbers to ensure the success of this community event, by providing physical assistance to those unable to make the trip of their own strength, as well as supplying their personal vehicles to bring the participants to and from the service.
The club’s focus of service to others and development of community continues to drive its support of such worthy initiatives.
This weekend, in keeping with its mandate of ‘Serving the Children of the World’, The Kiwanis Club of Roseau, with the support of the Commissioner of Police, Officers Pendenque and Laurent of the Traffic Department and the generous donation of paint by Harris Paints Dominica Ltd, will undertake painting of the pedestrian crossing situated outside the Dominica Community High School.
This area was chosen as ideal for this endeavour, as the repainted and defined cross walk would aid in enhancing the safety of students in addition to the general public.
The Kiwanis Club of Roseau continues to work with community organisations throughout Dominica and partner with various bodies, in acting on club objectives which include ‘to develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.’
This article is incorrect in that there was no pedestrian there before; so it was not a repainting. It was an initiative to place a much needed pedestrian – thank you to the Kiwanis Club
DNO, where are the pictures of the crossing. Also, correction, this was not a repainting of a crossing but a new crossing was painted.
Great job Kiwanis!
My child presenting the gift on behalf of Harris Paints. Good job Kiwanis club!
Woo, very good, very good initiative. You are respected for your caring. Thank you!
