LIAT resumes normal operation; warns of delays

Following the reopening of several airports this morning, LIAT is resuming its normal operating schedule but advises that some of its services will be delayed.

Although the weather conditions have improved, some areas in the network are still being impacted by wind gusts which are affecting our operation. LIAT regrets any inconvenience caused as a result of these conditions.

LIAT wishes to advise that the following flights are cancelled:

This will be the last Travel Advisory issued regarding the passage of Tropical Storm Matthew.

Passengers travelling may contact the LIAT Call Centre from Antigua – 1-268-480-5582; toll free from the rest of the Caribbean – 1-888-844-5428 and from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands – 1-866-549-5428 for information on the status of their flights.

Customers affected by the disruptions who wish to rebook for a later date will be allowed to do so without change fees or fare differences for a period of two weeks from the date of their original scheduled travel. Following the two-week grace period, passengers will be required to pay applicable fare and change fees when re-booking.

Passengers with onward connections on other Airlines are advised to contact the respective carriers.

I must agree with Steve, LIAT may blame TS Mathew, but lateness is part of their operation

@Steve Foerster – Delays are also a part of alot of other airlines ‘normal’ operations including those that operate in the US.

Occasionally, sure. But fly around the U.S. for a while and you’ll learn that LIAT is truly special.

    • Madam/Sir, you do not actually know what you are talking about!

In America, there are penalties fro flights been late, there are penalties for keeping passengers stranded on the ground or simply sitting in a aircraft for long periods prior to take off, and that includes airlines paying hotels bill for passengers left stranded in airports.

You all do your endeavor to make comparisons with America, to Dominica, whereas there are no comparisons! Nothing in regards to aircrafts operation in America compares to LIAT surrey! I reside in Los Angeles, and flew to different place in the United States, and never experience a delay nor late, except one time in Canada, and that was not the fault of any airline.

The immigration were been careful after 911, the yellow tag me randomly to search my luggage and about ten pounds of coffee I did not declare to American custom prior to attempting to board the flight to Los Angeles.

Just read the latest airline customer reviews on http://www.airlinequality.com/airlinereviews/liat and they make dismal reading with an average rating of 4 out of 10 (out of 103 interviews). One recent comment being typical:”they treat the public with disdain”. With the best will in the world I can not see how anyone can excuse such appalling performance and service and I’ve come to the point where I feel that LIAT is no ambassador for the Caribbean, quite the contrary, it has come to the point where it is negatively impacting our tourism development.

Good headline, given that delays are part of LIAT’s normal operation.
