Lions Club District Governor visits Dominica

On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, Lion Lloyd Barker MJF, District Governor of District 60B will arrive in Dominica to pay his official visit to the local Lions & Leo Clubs. During this time he will discuss his goals for the district and conduct audits of both clubs.

He is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on His Excellency, the President, Dr Nicholas J.O. Liverpool. He will meets with the Lions & Leos of the Dominica Clubs in the evening of Wednesday 14th to conduct the audit. His visit will also include a sightseeing tour of the Capital city and environs. District Governor Lloyd Barker whose home club is Barbados East Lions Club, leaves Dominica on Thursday 15th September to continue his audits of other clubs in the District.

District 60 B comprises of 61 Lions & Leo clubs from the Cayman Islands in the north to Grenada in the south of the Caribbean Sea.

President of the Dominica Lions Club, Diana Angol says that they are looking forward to his visit as he will help strengthen the programs that the Lions Board of Directors has approved for the Lionistic Year 2010-2011. These programs include the traditional Food Hampers to needy families, the Feeding program for the elderly and shut-in and the Annual Christmas Carols by candlelight, just to name a few.  She said that the Lions hope to embark on two major projects that will increase the visibility of the club in the community and that it is her intention during this year to ensure that the Dominica Lions Club lives up to the District Governor’s theme: ‘RAISING THE LEVEL OF SERVICE’ through the club’s recommitment to increased quality service to the local community.
