The Salisbury Enhancement Committee (SEC) Inc. in collaboration with various community groups has planned a major Cleanup and Beautification Project for Saturday, August 21 under the theme, “Enhancing our Community through Community Spirit”.

SEC Inc. is particularly calling on the village youth to get involved and support the initiative. In addition, the project will afford 4thand 5th form students the opportunity to participate in a community service venture, since this is a requirement for graduating at the secondary school level.

Efforts are being made to obtain plants and flowers to decorate along the village bus stop area.

So far, villagers have contributed in kind towards the project. However, more items such as gloves, garbage bags, bottles of water, fuel and 2- cycle oil for the brush cutters are still needed.

The activity is scheduled for 6 a.m. Motorists are advised to drive carefully along the Salisbury highway on that day.

The assistance of the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation has been solicited to pick up the garbage collected on that day.

SEC is also encouraging its residents and neighbours to avoid dumping garbage over the precipice along the Salisbury highway, as this is not an official dumping site.

Why make such a joke under the article of positive youth group. Is that how you encourage the youths from your community…. If only other communities had a group like SEC, what a nation D/ca would become…………………………………… SALISBURY AHEAD

Hey, I am just saying everything in Salisbury is painted blue…I see it all the time. I said they should have picked something more earth tone…less pull on the retina. Then I made a joke, that soon the other side (not to be confused with the Third Side) will soon do theirs in RED.

Man people , you all couldn’t see the sarcasm in my post…Damn..where is the sense of humour?

@the third side….don’t wear your ignorance as a badge of honour….if you had any idea of colours and the effects of the eye, you would know that painting anything completely red can be very strenuous on the eyes….don’t you know that teachers are advised not to use red when making posters cause this affects the eyes??

a completely red shelter would attract way more heat especially as its located on the bayside (where the sun blasts from mornin till sunset)! the light blue colour however is more appropriate, it welcomes the sunlight but it doesnt absorb the heat rays as much…. hence keeping us cooler. another thing…alot of people would be more repelled by a shelter painted solely in the colour red rather than blue…its more child friendly….especialy for autistic children…uurggh.. i cant bear some of your comments on this page..

@The Third Side: What colour do you propose that the buildings be painted in? Seriously you politically driven and blinded people need to stop assuming that because someone wears a colour or paints their house in a colour they are Labour, UWP or Freedom. Actually this sky blue IS softer on the eye. My gosh. It was a collaboration with LIME. Do you deduce that LIME was political in their choice?

I applaud the efforts of SEC. There are some real hardworking poeple in there who are also positively driven people and want the best for their community.

LOL… the fishermens huts island wide are blue. That has nothing to do with politics. Besides.. i know for a fact that SEC and the reunion committee are not political. In fact, i respect them for the fact that they have been able to avoid political backlash so far
