The Ministry of National Security has lifted a curfew that has been in effect in Roseau and environs since Hurricane Maria.

In a release late Friday the ministry said the curfew has been lifted with immediate effect.

It said this was done based on the advice of the Chief of Police.

“The City of Roseau is returning to a state of normalcy with electricity being restored in a number of area and therefore, there is a need to create an environment that encourages economic activity bearing in mind that we are in the Christmas season,” the release stated.

And yes the COP can talk about the time change also the PM and also the Minister of NS based on what the discuss on advice. But you will not hear minister of public works or minister of education talk about curfew which that is not there office, I guess u will have a better understanding

It is not a puzzle my there, I will educate you a bit, the COP can come up with the idea where he sees it is fit for implementing a curfew and he will discuss it with the minister responsible for national security or vis a vis, then obviously the boss who is the PM must be informed ,where he will pass on that info to the President to fully has the idea of a curfew sanctioned.

this is a very good gesture , however the police should be vigilant, so that the criminal elements don’t raise the ugly heads again . MERRY XMAS Dominica, and its people it has been a very difficult year hope the new year will bring more joy.

the Minister for National Security, Chief and Deputy of Police should all be questioned as to their orders and who took the initiative not to secure Roseau after Maria. so, that chief has proven his incompetence. the ‘good’ cops have zero confidence in this chief and there are serious problems in the force. Why isn’t a commission of inquiry being held stat as to the lawlessness and criminality which took place and which by the way is currently ongoing but not being reported. The curfew was a joke, so lifting it is just by the way……….gangsters had passes and people broke the curfew every night………I heard a guy casually say I was drinking with police so i was fine, liming way after midnight………SO! The Trinidad regiment has left, so have the Jamaican forces, RSS still on island I understand……..with criminals and citizens alike thinking police are a joke what happens next?

I hope the chief and minister of National Security will protect the citizens of Upper Goodwill who remain in darkness (except for the 1 little section lighted up for a minister). One day this wickedness, favoritism and political victimisation must come to an end. Brickbats to the chief, minister of national security, DOMLEC and the minister who is begging to be parl rep.

Maybe so Toby but I can not see which economic activity needs my presence in Roseau after dark. I’m. Sorry but the place makes me feel uncomfortable and uneasy even during the day.

Some of us are a little puzzled by this news release. For our understanding, we wish to know whether it was the President, Police Chief, Prime Minister or Minister of National Security who imposed the curfew. At one point the PM disclosed the changing hours of the curfew, but now the Ministry of National Security is informing of its discontinuation. A bit of education in this matter is needed.

If you listened to the PM giving a slight hint in his last speech, with a little smile and showing his dimples you should know who made the decision and who calls the tunes.
