Morne Prosper neglected – Granford Christopher

MP for Roseau Valley Dr. John Collin McIntyre

Public Relations Officer of the Morne Prosper Sports Committee, Granford Christopher, wants Dr. John Collin McIntyre to do more for the village of Morne Prosper

Christopher indicated that the Parliamentary Representative of the Roseau Valley area is neglecting the development needs of the village.

Speaking to Dominica News Online in a Wednesday afternoon interview, Christopher points out that the road to the community is in a deplorable condition.

“From Copthall to Morne Proper, the entire road is bad, it has been like that for a while, I will not advise anyone to come up here with a vehicle,” Christopher said.

Christopher also suggested that the water quality coming from the water system in that village is unhealthy. “The pipe burst recently and people couldn’t believe that this is the quality of water we are drinking, there was lots of debris in that water and it has a bad taste,” Christopher indicated.

He continued, “We not seeing nobody, we not hearing anything, not even from MacDowell Paul who is the Chairman of the Village Council.”

Attempts to reach the Roseau Valley Parl. Rep for comments proved futile. Dominica News Online will continue to endeavor to get a response from Dr. John Collin McIntyre.

8-O “…people couldn’t believe that this is the quality of water we are drinking, there was lots of debris in that water and it has a bad taste.” :-x

Dominicans @ home need to be educated. They want everything done for them. They have all that natural water flowing and they drink that crappy stuff from the rusty pipes? 365 rivers! that’s a joke people.

I agree with Mr. Christopher. Whenever the people in authority or the people who are supposed to represent the people are not doing anything to develop the communities people have the democratic right to expose them. That is the whole idea of Democracy.

Yes, but only if it is true! Mr Christopher is a true blue UWP supporter with his own issues. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts. In this case the facts speak for themselves – THE ROAD IS BEING REPAIRED!

It took a Labour Party Representative in the Roseau Valley to make it happen. The UWP representative did NOTHING in all his years. Why is it now Mr. Christopher wants to complain, when something is finally being done to rectify the situation?

Roseau, our comments are well taken however, the same situation ALL OVER THE GLOBE! it’s always
until next election cycle. It never ends, man/woman. This is the decade of the great dragon, Satan and nothing can stop him until the mighty and powerful ONE says it’s time. No politics, new Minister, prime minister, Priest, china, America – no one can stop this except he who rides in the white horse – the conquering Lion of Judah, only he could prevail against the dreadful liar and betrayer, the Devil.

We need a government that understands that investment in our infrastructure is most important for our development.Tourism and agriculture among other enterprises depend on good roads for their success. I think it is deplorably that any government can look at the condition of the roads in DA and not make that a priority. Shifting from one pothole to an other has become the norm on DA roads. WHAT A SHAME!

I think you may have it all wrong. Warning.. I am not a red supporter, but from what I read and hear Dominica’s infrastructure is being continually upgraded.,

      1. Bridge and road from bath road to goodwill
      2. Bridge from Roseau Market to Pottersville
      3. Petite Savanne/Grandbay Road
      4. Marigot/Pondcasse Interior Road
      5. Portsmouth / Roseau west coast road
      6. Various sea defense projects….

So while there are roads that need to be upgraded give them fellas their credit. Everything can’t be done at once.. Trust me I am not a labor supporter..

What are you talking about? The road is currently under construction, and we all know these things take time. The former Parl Rep was from Morne Prosper and in all his time in office never saw fit to fix the road. Now Dr Mac has been the Parl Rep for less than two years and you want every problem addressed now-for-now… get real!

Dr Mac has already built so many farm access roads in the village, something the UWP Parl Rep never saw fit to do in his 15 years.

Come on, get serious, Dr. Mac has done so much for MP in his short time in office, and there is more to come. The valley as a whole has benefited from having Dr Mac as our Representative. Keep up the good work Doc! Don’t listen to the disgruntled UWPites, they don’t have anything to offer the constituency.

Good point. People should remember that Norris never did anything for Morne Pross. It took Collin’s election to get work started on their road. It was long overdue but at least now it started.

How many years was the previous power’s party in power? don’t mislead the people. We all know the collins playing politics and will neglect morne prosper because the people there predominatly support UWP. That said, I have heard of plans to improve the roads in the valley and that is a step the right direction because that thing Morne Prosper calls a road is indeed a donkey track. I don’t go to Morne prosper because i am so afraid of the road.

Please do not insult the Morne Prosper donkey track by calling it a road.

I drive that donkey track and I tell you, it is a down right disgrace. Thank God that donkeys no longer walk there because “pat yo takay kassay day jean”

He needs to come up to Cochrane too. The road is in a bad shape and it is just being patched up every year. Right now it looking like a quilt.
As for the road to Middleham Falls – that is a river bed now. Tourist can hardly pass there.

Come on Mr McIntyre. We are part of the valley too. Come and take a look for yourself.

Is so they are, once they get your vote they forgetting the people who put them there. Ambrose George is the same, he does not do anything for the people of Loubiere.. But don’t worry all good things come to an end. Do something for the youth in Loubiere, give us more support.

I agree with Christopher, I have witnessed the Copthall road, it is in very terrible shape.

We hope that the government has on its list of objectives to address these matters.

That good for them. I personally know of some uwp-ites who take the “deposit”, cast the vote, take photo of ballot, to use to collect the rest. UP TO NOW they doh get the rest. That morne prosper road started just before election. Election done, 18-3, work stop. They will either start again when people start to complain, or wait till their snap election is about to be announced. Labour Power.

The United Workers Party and its Parliamentary Representative is very proud of its achievements in the Roseau Valley from 1995-2000.Farmers were producing and there were local regional and international markets for their crops. The hard working farmers of Morne Prosper benefitted significantly. In Morne prosper the Morne hill road was rehabilitated, a new health center was constructed,a basket ball was constructed, the people were organised to form the second village council in the valley,Work started to upgrade the playing field, the road was regularly maintained by fortnightly paid road gangs, The first Village concil in Trafalgar, shawford and Fond Cane was formed, the Trafalgar /Wotten waven link road was constructed, the Trafalgar Tourist Reception center was constructed, Trafalgar tour guides and vendors were making money with increase tourist arrivals both stay over and by cruise ship. In laudat two Tourist facility were constructed at the Fresh Water lake and to Middleham Fall. Ground was broken for the establishment of
the Rain Forest Aerial Tram where about 100 persons were employed .In Cockrane , the main road in the village was rehabilitated ,the playing field was upgraded, the upper village road to the middleham fall was also upgraded. We provided seed capital for the village improvement committe to organise activities like the Rabbit Festival. These were just a few of the things that the UWP did in the Roseau Valley in less than five years. But what to me was most important were the independence, dignity, pride and respect for our women and a greater quality of life which the people of the Roseau Valley enjoyed when the UWP was in government. Before i conclude it must be mentioned that when the UWP came in office we met the Freedom Party plans for the Roseau Valley BRIM Project which was funded by the CDB.We built the Bath Estate Bridge the B in that project. The labour did the RIM. To facilitate the Roseau Valley RIM Project it was imperative for the construction of the Trafalgar /wotton Waven Link Road which essentially facilitated the Geothermal project.
Therefore, when people like Valley man and Hod Kai CHE make their comments it is clear that they are not posting the truth which is a stranger for labourites. They are just people singing for their supper under their massa table.
