New Dominican civic group formed in Northeast United States

dno newsA new civic group has been formed in the Northeast United States aimed at fostering relations with Dominicans at home

The Association of Dominicans in the Northeast USA, Inc. (ADNExUS), based in New Jersey, intends to stage activities and raise funds for the primary purpose of connecting and uplift the Dominican communities in the Northeast United States and in Dominica through cultural, educational and community programmes and by providing medical supplies to clinics on the island.

The group received 501©3 (tax free) status earlier this year.

“The need for the Association arose from a desire to create an environment in which civic groups with similar objectives operate with mutual respect and homegrown
Dominican camaraderie, but a focus on meeting its objective,” said Sylma Brown, a spokesman for the Board of Trustees.

ADNExUS has already received expression of interest from two sub-groups that wish to operate as Chapters with particular emphasis on developing their respective interest.

On its calendar this year are two events – a Dominica Business and Cultural Expo scheduled to be held in August and the 3rd annual Dominica Cultural Awards Gala which will be held in September – both in collaboration with the Northeast USA Wesley Committee, the Dominica United Cricket Club, Know Your Culture Dance Troupe and the North American Association for the Advancement of La Plaine.

“Already the Association is making its presence felt in the community by supporting other community events and by sponsoring Know Your Culture to participate in the recently concluded Caribbean Week in New York, organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization,” added Ms. Brown.

The Groups Board of Trustees comprises membership of the leadership of existing civic groups – the Northeast USA Wesley Committee, Know Your Culture and The Dominican United Cricket Club, but interested Dominicans may be considered to serve on Committees.

According to Brown: “it is a privilege for us to be able to give back to a country that has given us so much and a joy to collaborate with fellow Dominicans toward a mutual objective”.

The Association is in the process of designing a logo and building a website which it hopes to launch before the end of the year.

I wish I could burst you dirty mouth with a back hand!

What checked passed are you talking If you are talking about the crap you hear about Thomson thief DAAS money, we all heard that; but do not forget, that Clayton Shillingford cleared his name, did not do it!

I personally, spoke with an insider of the DAAS, who should know, one who took over where Fontaine left off, who told me that Thomson Fontaine did not steal, nor attempted steal any money! You hate Thomson because he is an academically educated, while your block head is filled with human feces!

The only thing people like you can do is call yourselves by all sorts of stupid fictitious manes, talking crap, when nobody can identify you.

        We Thomson!

Who are you; I suspect, a nobody, simply someone looking for recognition; which nobody on DNO will give to you, because you have no name! For all we know you are living off the dole (welfare) in England!

Look how stupid some Dominicans are: The article plainly noted: “Northeast Wesley Committee” and identified New Jersey, where just about everybody from Wesley resides. Here is the problem, some idiot suggests Thomson Fontaine should not be involved.

First of all: Thomson, is not from the village Wesley: secondly, as far as we know Fontaine now resides in Dominica; and is an appointed senator on the side of the opposition; so the question is what does he have to do with it?

The time some of you Dominicans take to play politics, and focus on the opposition; perhaps wasting a little time demanding that Skerrit develop the country, or set the people free, and let someone else try, that is the crap we hear! I’ve had it no later than today, people were laughing at us; I was told to my face; if Columbus return to the Americas, and the West Indies the only place he will recognized is Dominica. To me that is a personal shame!

None of us Dominicans can deny that because it is…

None of us Dominicans can deny that because it is true!

Every island in the Caribbean is far more developed, or fully developed unlike backwards Dominica; yet we are proud to talk crap about Nature island; nevertheless, Skerrit has the nerve to pretend advising the fully developed Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, and Jamaica, about what and where they should buy products, when his Dominica does not have anything to sell! Talking crap about phytosanitary, and you do have squat which needs phytosanitary certificate allowing shipments of anything out of Dominica.

You people have no shame, you are contented in your backwardness, and anytime idea is developed we read the same crap, from of you who simply live for the break of day to go and kiss Skerrit butt, for a handout.

They shame me, in laughter at how backwards, and undeveloped is our country!

I’ve heard that saying too, but with the context that we haven’t cut down all our rainforests and hidden everything behind monstrous resorts and their giant barbed wire fences. In other words, I’ve heard it as a compliment, not an insult.

Steve, I am not anticipating that anybody should destroy the forest, we need trees, because trees are the only source of the oxygen for the air we breath to remain alive. However, to keep the country totally backwards is a disgrace!

Steve, people claim that Haiti is a very poor place, I agree, however, the vast amount of people who poor in Haiti is not due to development, the fact is the population is in the millions, there are more than a million people residing on the island and not enough jobs, in addition to corrupted leaders.

Nevertheless, if you do an assessment of the country in general, you will find Haiti is way more developed than Dominica. Steve I’ve been all over the Caribbean, I’ve seen high class hotels, I’ve seen foreign residence buying land and building homes, and have yet to see any thing remotely surrounded by fences of barbwire?

Keeping Dominica poor is bad for our people; we want nature island, however there more born Dominicans living abroad, than…

You are the one who claim that you have a genuine British accent, when you are a dunce, can’t spell, nor read properly, if you took the time out to educate yourself, would not be writing so much nonsense on DNO.

Fontaine has a Ph.D. in economics, that is why he earned the title of “doctor.” We know his name is Thomson Fontaine; yours is “know it all,” according to Dominica people talking sot! (stupidness).

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah;

Unless you are an old hag, and to old for a good secondary education, if you are able perhaps you might want to enroll in a community college (a junior) collage they are all over England; I attended one in Harlow for two semesters a very long time ago. The nobody’s like you are always prepared to attack people in order to sort of boost your low self-esteem!
