Newly elected president, Gibbings described his new role as “a labour of love,” noting that he is happy for the challenge which lies ahead for him at the helm.

“Strengthening the national associations is top priority for the ACM and occupies top of the agenda,” he said.

At the meeting ACM passed two resolutions, one dealing with information and the other with impunity on journalist. A new code of ethics to governor the behaviour of journalist in the region was also passed.

He called on journalist to be more involved in their own personal affairs.

“Journalist need to get more and more involved in their own affairs, we spend quite a lot of time dealing with national matters. We need to spend more time dealing with our self as professionals and as an industry,” he said.
