Newly sworn-in Government minister places confidence in Henderson

Alvin Bernard. Photo credit: www.dominica.gov.dmMinister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alvin Bernard says great improvements are expected with the appointment of a new Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Dominica to the United Nations in New York.

Former Foreign Affairs Minister Vince Henderson is taking over the position from His Excellency Crispin Gregoire, who held the post for over seven years.

Bernard said Henderson brings experience as a government minister.

“He has also represented the Government of Dominica in various organizations in different parts of the world; he’s very well qualified officially, he brings a certain amount of youthful energy to the post,” he said.

“We expect to see great improvements or a new dimension to that post,” Bernard stated.

Meantime Bernard revealed that the Dominica government is looking at limiting the duration of ambassadors at different posts. Gregoire and government are in discussions with regards to his future post, according to Bernard.

Bernard never took the time to acknowledge the work that His Excellency Crispin Gregoire did on behalf on the people of Dominica. He just came out and say ” We expect to see great improvements or a new dimension to that post,” Bernard stated, suggesting that Mr. Gregoire failed at that post.

Bernard just created a Public Relations nightmare. He should not be permitted to make anymore statements, Mon Dieu when will our people learn they cannot just open their mouth and say anything.
