No status change in Andy Carbon investigations police say

Carbon suffered burns to his back
Carbon suffered burns to his back

The police have said there is no change in status in relations to investigations into an alleged attack on a homeless man in Roseau recently.

Andy Carbon was reportedly burnt with hot water outside a restaurant and social media has been ablaze with information that a person has been arrested in the matter.

However, on Thursday morning the police said the status in the investigation remains the same as previously reported.

Last week the police had only said they had a suspect in the matter while investigations continue.

But DNO has been reliably informed that one person was arrested in the matter and is expected to appear in court on Friday.

The incident has sparked outrage across Dominica at the manner in which the less fortunate are being treated.

Justice Minister, Rayburn Blackmoore, expressed deep condemnation over the manner in which vagrants are being treated and MP for Roseau Central, Joseph Isaac, called on the police to “aggressively investigate and prosecute whoever committed the act.”

Anyone may become a vagrant due mental illness, stress, drug addiction or financial situation. They may or may not had a choice in current situation. But still they shouldn’t be treated in such conditions, highlighted in the article. Help them, not inflict scares and wounds upon them.

The status in the investigation remains the same? Are nationals being misled? It surely takes long to make an arrest and bring forth a charge.
Andy cannot speak for himself and does not have the capability to as much as lodge a complaint of also inhumane treatment and for pain and suffering.
We hope in time the investigation will be complete and someone or some people will be arrested and charged.

I believe the story refers to his mother who lives on high street. You have named everybody who should take responsibility for him except her. Does she have any responsibility in this?

      • Me
        July 8, 2016

Once your child is 18 it is considered an adult and you have no say or responsibility. Period. It is not what you may think or feel but what the law says.

      • Tell the Facts
        July 8, 2016

If she is sane and capable, even though he is an adult, as a mother she should have some compassion for her son and do her utmost to take care of him that he does not go hungry and have to beg.
Furthermore, he could receive government assistance but he must be able to sign for it. If he can’t someone responsible could do so. If the mother is able she should take that responsibility.

I cannot believe that some of these comments about Andy Carbon are coming from persons who profess to be Christians ..besides are the statements factual or made up to support a particular position. There may be two or more wrongs .. the act of throwing hot water on Andy Carbon, the apparent inaction of the police up to today July 7 etc..It is intriguing that the DNO article identifies Andy Carbon and Joseph Isaac but no mention of where the incident occurred or the name of the person who threw the hot water..I call that very poor reporting..

Some people in high, higher and highest places gets arrested in sigway (secret) and bailed immediately in the dark of night because they are connected to Dca\’s most high. You see, when the malaways there shouting Labar Kar Twayvaye they get thrown in police cells for dropping off people at Douglas Charles Airport when they have an H on their vehicle but does not have a cabal issued permit. The days of this vicious cabal and the Manicou Gang led by Comm. Otran (Very big ugly head) from enbar (under), Vielle Casse will surely pay.

    NO CHANGE IN STATUS!!!!
Are the police really going to pursue this? Are they really serious? Other matters of much less importance they are very quick to act. But just remember what the GOOD BOOK says:
    Psalm 83:2
Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
    Proverbs 19:17
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

    July 7, 2016

What will it take and how long will it take to make an arrest or charge? I’m asking the police and authorities on this island, should we the people seek vigilante justice? It’s seems this is the way to go when we can’t get the justice we deserve !I wanna make my position clear, any time me or any member of my family or those closely related to me, including friends is being taken advantage of and the law enforcement officials or police and justice system fail us,i and we who are being affected, will do our own justice! We shall be operating in an underground fashion that none of us can be identified, you all better take this warning seriously, cause people will disappear !!!

Thanks very much because that’s what I had in mind to say, because to much in justice in this country, if any of my family member happens to be treated in like manner we will take revenge and this is to disappear some one so that we all will know what it is to suffer pain, I am making it clear that I am not killing no one, cause I’m no murder but some one will disappear fore a while and we will all be sorrowful

I dont understand why someone hasnt advised Andy to take a civil position. rather than seeking criminal charges.

    • Andy is a poor man. He does not have money for a lawyer. He does not know his way around.

What he needs is an advocate: somebody who will who will come along side and help.

It does not look like he is going to make any headway with criminal charges. He needs somebody who will initiate a civil position on his behalf. His chance of winning a civil case is good to excellent.

The police are stalling. It has been suggested that there is a reason for this. Is the person responsible for throwing hot water on this poor man known to the police or to somebody or persons in the Dominican government :?: Is there an inordinate relationship here :?:

The people want the person’s name AND they want to know why the police have not moved in a satisfactory way and given that information in an update.

People are talking now about vigilante justice. I don’t endorse that. But some say vigilante justice is better than no justice.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

I don’t know where DNO got its information from. According to the blob, Mas In the Cemetery, a prominent business woman and two employees from the restaurant whose name has been mentioned as regards to the incident concerning the homeless man, have been picked up by the police. The blog went on as far as to give the name of the alleged perpetrator.

ADMIN: As we said in the story, we get info from the police.

    • Dorival John
      July 7, 2016

So you are saying Mas in the Cemetery, or what it is called, is a legitimate news source? Hahahahaha.

That blog is sensationalism central and cannot be relied on as a source for legitimate news.

Listen pal, I trust it more than the chronicle or Kairi. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! These two local media are used to hush up news, just like the Speaker hushing up the opposition but we getting more info. on the streets and from overseas making our so called local “journalists” look like pussycats and amateurs. Skerrit trying to control the press not going to work. It doing him more harm than good.
PS. I also learn from the same sources that Ma Deyer is supposed to be the lawyer representing the alleged suspect. I feel sorry for DNO because their hand are tied also because of legal threats at home.
